General Rant about Getting a New Phone

So you finally update that old Razr and realize you don't need two cans and a string to place a call (unless it's an iPhone, of course ). But what are you also in store for that you really don't factor into the equation...

1) Another car charger. Everytime a get a new phone, I have to get a new charger because, even though the plug-in stays the same, the tip into the phone changes everytime. I thought I'd slip by staying with Samsung from an Eternity to a Captivate... no luck. Another charger to toss into the phone-sack graveyard. I literally have six phone chargers ranging for a Nokia to Motorola to a Samsung to a Sprint-branded phones.
Additional New Phone Cost: $11.99 from eBay.

2) A protective screen film. Every phone design is different, so it's a new purchase from Invisible Shield everytime. We don't want scratches on these delicate touchscreens that may screw-up the interface, do we?
Additional New Phone Cost: $24.99 from Invisible Shield

3) A new case holder to snap to the belt. Like the protective film above, every phone is a little different. Would my leather hold for my Eternity fit the Captivate... no. So there are some cheap ones on eBay, but they have magnets built into the flaps for closure. May be a myth, but I just don't think magnets and electronics should mix. So I got to the ATT website.
Additional New Phone Cost: $34.99 from ATT.

4) So more memory. If you have a phone that can expand to 32GB, then why would you pop-out your old 4GB class 2 micro-sd card and slap it in? That's even if you old phone had expandable memory options. With a good camera and 720p recording, you are going to need some space at a class 6 rating.
Additional New Phone Cost: $74.99 from Amazon.

5) Dataplans. What's good about having a phone that can watch Deep Throat if you can't download Deep Throat. Wi-Fi is a plus over the old phone, but count on your monthly bill rising.
Additional New Phone Cost: $5 to $10 a month from ATT.

But in all in all, a new phone is welcomed.

I had the Razr. I actually thought it was a great phone for like the first two years I had it, but then it got real slow on me...same thing with my walkman phone. I just hope all these new smartphones aren't designed to fall apart after a certain time frame.

I was a big fan of the Razr. But, I'm a sucker for new tech.

My wife laughs. When we were very young an old man told me "if you don't want to buy a new car, don't go sittin in them!" He was right.

I like electronics that make sense to me The minute I touched the user friendly iphone, I was hooked and my Nokia phone and accessories were yesterday's news.

At least the phones are less expensive than cars.
