I hear they are the worst sort of Sony's, and built special for Wal-Mart. I guess they take out some inputs. Sony is the best you can do there. If they have a Samsung, it will be low end, year old model.

After buying a 52" LCD for x-mas last year, I posted my RP on craigslist for $200 back in January and sold it the same day. I guy that bought it was so happy. It was right before the super bowl. I think I paid around $1800 for my RP back in 2001.

pretty much anything name brand at Wal-Mart is a cheap version made just for them because they insist on pricing being so low

The sell the "S" version models, which are scaled down. For example, within the same product number, there may be one digit that changes, but that changes a bunch of the stuff inside.

Like:
Contrast ration, whereas the V or W versions sold at BB or CC have 10,000:1 contrast ration, the Wal-Mart version has 2,500:1 ration.

Mhz, whereas the others have 120Hz processing, Wal-Mart has 60Hz.

I've just spent weeks researching TV's, and as soon as you think you found a great deal, there's something missing on it, or one part is less quality than the others...you really have to read each line of what the TV has inside to make sure you're getting what you want. It's actually kinda getting me mad with how many of the "same" TV the sell with different parts inside.

Why not just make it easy for people and differentiate them by name (for example, Sony Bravia's have tons of models, so if you say you bought a Bravia, that really doesn't mean anything, unless you specificy the product number). They should either change the name, or number them on a scale (1 - 5 or whatever). Anyway, end rant before I get too mad.

P.S. I like this TV. Its the top of the line of the Toshiba Regzas. It's what I'll be buying here shortly. (CompUSA is the same as TigerDirect)

I'm guessing this was an RP CRT - the big piece of furniture kind of TV that weighs 200+ pounds?

No, it wasn't a CRT. Yes, It was 52" piece of furniture, but not 200+ lbs. I lift it on the back of their truck and it weighed maybe 100 lbs. If I recall, it was Hitachi Ultrascan HD. What ever HD was back on 2001.

I'm going to wait until the stores realize that even BF isn't going to drive the amount of consumers it used to and they will drop the price. I'm going to try to wait it out until January and see what happens with LCD prices at that time.

Until then, tube enjoying it is.
