Have any of you used or tried yelp? I'm trying to learn more about apps to see if a smart phone would change my life or just complicate it.

I'd go for it. What kind of smart phone are you looking for?

windows mobile
blackberry
iPhone

All of those CAN be considered a smart phone. The amount of apps are countless. What kind of things would you want your phone to do? I'm sure we can help you out with a decision.

opera mini

I've used various apps in the past, mostly little things.
Metro is a nice program for finding routes.
There was an interesting wifi app that allowed you to control your computer's mouse.
I use Qreader, a nice unicode able document reader.

I use google maps the most, though.
