i found this yesterday. i used to use winodws xp image resizer, but that dumps the EXIF data.

the faststone one is free and keeps your exif data intact.

exchangeable image file format (exif) is a specification for the image file format used by digital cameras.

It lets me know what camera you used (and a whole lot more) to take your pictures if the resizer you used keeps the exif data intact

most resizers dump the data. if you shot the pics with a digicam, and are gonna post them on the web, why not keep the exif data?

get the faststone resizer. it is free and also does batch resizing and renaming.

I'll even argue pirated copies HELP adobe with sales. What kid/young adult is going to shell out $500 for a copy of a program to learn it in order to get into an industry where he/she will appy it?

Please don't take my argument as justification of stealing, I'm only posing an interesting view on the position of their product.
Just some side notes:
They have had activation for quite a while now.
The Academic version is < $300, although a starter would probably start with Photoshop elements which is much cheaper.

Even though I am extremely anti-pirate now, I'll agree that economically it doesn't make a bit of difference if someone who can't afford to buy software pirates it.

But anyway, staying on topic, Irfan's batch resize/rotate thing is very handy, and irfanview is just a great and free graphics viewer to begin with.

I'll admit I'm a bit out of date with photoshop's latest offering (I'm still using PS7). I didn't know they incorporated product activation.
