Do they have a domain? You can probably find the MX record at www.dnsstuff.com and get the smtp address.

your apartment complex runs their own mail server?

word for word...

In the "Outgoing mail (SMTP) server" field, you will need to put the server name of the internet service provider you are using.

On-campus (Resnet):

tigerout.auburn.edu

Off-campus:

Earthlink - smtpauth.earthlink.net
Bellsouth (Dial-up and DSL) - mail.bellsouth.net
Charter (Cable) - smtp.charter.net

Some apartment complexes in Auburn provide internet access that has already been set up. You will need to talk to the management at the apartment to determine the proper settings for your outgoing mail.

thats why i need the smtp server for outgoing mail...

If the apartment complex is your ISP then just ask them for it.
