fix for annoying windows messanger popups?

fix for annoying windows messanger popups?

any of you guys remember the setting to change in windows XP to eliminate those annoying windows messanger pop-ups that come up all the time if you have DSL or cable internet running all the time?? i just converted to XP and im getting that BS and i cant remember where that setting was

add remove programs>windows components

hmm i dont have that in my list of programs....and i remember when i did it a long time ago it just entailed going to some setting and dissabling something, not an actuall uninstall of anything...

Start- Control Panel- Performance and Maintenance- Administrative Tools- Services-

Find "Messenger" and click "stop the service."

That should do it.

That should do it.

Yep...but you will want to go into the properties and disable the service. If you just stop it...it will start again when you reboot.
