Excel question
Everyday I get a report from our corp office with some numbers about our hotels. Within the last week the report started coming over fawked up. I asked the guy who puts it out if hes doing any thing different with it and he said he's not. I know my GM can look at it on his comp fine, but when I open it up, it looks like this:
I could call IT, but I rather ask you guys first. Any ideas why this is happening? I havent changed anything in excel that I can think of. I'm not a complete idiot, but I don't know much about excel. I'm using excel 2007.
Thanks!

I might, But I've been using this for a while and never had this issue before.
For those who can't see the pic basiclyl where all the data is suppose to be is says:
#NAME?
Sometimes when I open excel it mentions something about a powerplay add-on. I've googled but found squat.

The columns are too narrow for the data. Expand the columns to a wider setting.
Also, what is the formula for the cells that have #NAME? ?
Check the formatting of the columns for those columns, as it appears that your version is set to display exact text.

First off... widen your columns so you can get rid of the #####. That occurs when the columns are too narrow.
The reason you are getting a name? is because the data is referencing a named cell in error... You have to look at the formula itself and see where the data is pulling from to correct the error. Hope that helps...

#NAME! Errors
#NAME! errors are caused when Excel doesn't recognize a name used in your formula.
The best way to fix this is to double-click the cell that has this error, and be sure that you spelled the formula correctly. It is also possible that the formula doesn't exist. Try clicking the Insert menu and selecting "Function..." from the menu that appears. You will then have access to a library of functions that you can use in Excel.
Also, be sure that the variables that you are using for your data is acceptable for the formula. A good way to find this out is to access the Function library (demonstrated above).

The number format in the original file is different compared to when you opened it in your version of Excel. Just highlight those columns and go to "Format" tab, hit "Cells", and choose the right number format in the "Number" tab.
#NAME?
As others have already pointed out, the formula is not right. My guess is, the original one written may be linked to another worksheet. Best way is to re-write the formula yourself.

^ Correct, the GM and guy who makes the spreadsheet may use a "look up" file which holds preset numbers.. .for example in my case, I have a large inventory file..so I link my new excel files to open and look up values at the preset inventory sheet, which is located on main server... I hope I'm making sense.
Expand the column so you can see the formula used, it will indicate what it is missing. press Ctrl + ~

I should of explained. I know that ##### means the data is too big for the cell. All those colums are also the #NAME?.
The error I get everytime I open it is.
:Workbook containts PowerPlay for Excel data but the PowerPlay for Excel add-in is not installed. The workbook will be opened with Powerplay for Excel info removed:
I think this is the issue. Anyone know about this PowerPlay addin?

In the Excel menu at the top, go to Tools -> Add-ins and see if your computer has that expansion pack listed, if it does great, install it. Otherwise, you will have to get the add-in from the guy that sent you the file.
I have never heard of that add in but maybe it has been installed on your computer.

Does the PowerPlay add on have something to do with one side removing one of their Excel guys from the office to a "penalty conference room" while the others continue, down a man for a set period of time, doing excel battle against another office or floor or division?
