Apple Genius Bar Keeps Jacking Me Around

I have been having troubles with my iPhone for the last eight months of its 11 month life. Among the most annoying is every time I try to apply an update the phone locks up and cannot receive the new software. It also has problems with intermittently dropping to zero bars and no edge (it even kicks WiFi off when this happens).

I have gone to the ha-ha Genius Bar at the Washington Square Mall and have gotten nothing but bull. First it was one excuse and now they are claiming it is my MacBook responsible for the errors my phone is experiencing. This is hard to believe as I've never had troubles syncing and updating my two year old iPod with this computer. I have repeatedly requested a warranty replacement and every time they have ignored my request and thrown another B.S. excuse at me.

I'm at my wits end and my warranty coverage runs out next month. Any advice?

interesting...sounds like a bunch of assholes.

I would just call apple support and explain the bad service you have been receiving. They should help take of care you via phone/mail.

This is what I did when I felt like I was being run around on the fiances macbook battery being abnormal. Finally, called and they agreed and sent me a new one.

I finally got the phone to act up regularly and went in tonight, ready for a fight.

I got the good people tonight and they went through all the regular channels to try to solve the problem which was my Edge cutting in and out and rarely working at all. They did a full wipe of the phone and logged the issue with Apple while extending my warranty another 90 days. This fixed the problem until I got about two miles away so I turned around and no further questions asked, got a new phone, right out of the box.

This is the kind of customer service I expected to begin with.

Try a different place next time. Maybe Pioneer Place?

The "genius" bar at Wash Square is a complete joke IMO, they don't know anything about their own products.

Is anybody else having sporadic Edge failures? It will have the little 'E' up top but the internet, mail, or whatever I'm trying to access will just hang "loading" until it finally says the server stopped responding or 'update failed'. This is a brand new phone, brand new SIM card. There's no rhyme or reason to it, either. It did it with the old phone and SIM card so I know it's not a hardware problem. It's likely a server issue.

Resetting the network settings usually cures this (sometimes it doesn't) for a while but I've tried to refrain from doing that too much. Every time I reset, the failures seem to last longer and come more frequently.
