Dual->Single Monitors: Some Windows Hidden!
Dual->Single Monitors: Some Windows Hidden!
Hey guys, I'm home for break from college, and I brought my desktop back with me. Here's the problem:
I run a dual monitor display up at school, and I brought home one monitor. I have programs I run on the right-side display constantly (such as iTunes or Azureus). The computer recognizes the single display, but now some programs are stuck over on the right side (when I only have the left monitor). Others have made it over (AIM, iTunes), but I can only see Azureus (which is normally on the right) when I right-click/maximize on the taskbar. How can I bring all the windows onto the one and only screen I have right now?
Thanks!

only way is to go into your display settings and disable the other monitor so that the computer thinks there is only one. IMO
OH, you could switch the cable on the back of the computer to the other video port, minimize/move the window, and then switch it back to the active one. but if you ever hit the maximize button you'll have to do it all again. (this is if you have it set to span displays)
I seriously would just disable the monitor that isn't available.

I believe what you have to do is go into Display Properties, choose monitor 2, and drag the apps like halfway over off the screen to the left... now choose monitor 1, and you should see half of those apps on the right - drag them fully into the Monitor 1 view. Hope that works for you.

Unfortunately neither of your options is available. The computer already recognizes the fact that there is no 2nd monitor, and therefore/also I can't select the second monitor. One thing I might try doing is disabling my Display Adapter/Graphics card secondary option, but this requires a restart, so I'll report back soon.
Thanks for your help guys!

ahhh ok... here's what you can try, then.
use Alt-Tab to switch to the application in question. You won't see it, but this will activate it's window on the "other" monitor. Press Alt-Spacebar to show the window system menu. Press the down arrow key once to choose "Move". Press Enter. Use the Left cursor key to move the window into view. Notice you are doing all of this by only using keys. This should work!
