Disconnecting service

I disconnected a phone with T-mobile, but the phone is still in service and working. How long does it take to disconnect the service? My contract is over.

Better check it out. A disconnected phone should stop working immediately. Hehe, you might want to call it in as stolen.

go to a local store if it has been over 24 hours and ask them if it has been terminated

Unless you ported the # to another carrier it won't stop until the end of your billing cycle.

Thanks, that was the answer I got from t-mobile customer service. It was just odd because I've never had that happen before. When I had AT&T and I disconnected, it was almost immediate.

AT&T does the same thing. You must of been at the end of your billing cycle with AT&T.

Nope, it was taken off for me right away. But it wasn't an amiable parting, I called AT&T to disconnect first because I thought I had lost my cell phone. And then I found it, so I reconnected, but AT&T charged me for re-activating my phone, so I said I'm taking my business elsewhere because it was within a week that I found my phone. Plus I was a customer for 3 years, I felt I deserved to have the fee waived for being a loyal customer, but customer service did not agree. So now I'm with T-mobile.
