Dell's LCD Dead Pixel Policy?

I just ordered a Samsung 710T for 408 dollars. Original price is 495 but Dell is doing 10% off monitors, and I found a coupon for an extra 35 dollars off. Deal ends today just letting you guys know.

Alright, so as many of you may know, LCDs may have dead pixels, and I'm curious if I have a dead pixel in an annoying spot (say the center of the screen) would i be able to get dell to replace it?

Use the MonitorsDirect Calibrator on this page to check your new monitor; http://www.monitorsdirect.com/toolkit/
If you are not happy with your purchase, TELL them you are sending it back! They have a 30 day satisfaction guarantee. A trick that I and many friends have used before; at day 20 call Dell and tell them you want a RMA number to return the item because you do not think you got your moneys worth and Fry's, Circuit City or whoever has a item for less $$ that will fit your needs. Got a $150.00 credit on the last Dell I purchased doing this!

Dell will replace it no problem in my experience, i am basically the dell guy at my company, and we are pretty big, so if you run into trouble i can have one of my account rep's put in a good word. One of my old buddies had a laptop motherboard go out and they were giving him some trouble, i called up and he had a whole new laptop a week later.

I had a monitor replaced by Dell once. No big deal, they try and "troubleshoot" the problem over the phone; yeah like that'll help...

Then they sent a new monitor, I packed my old one up in the box they sent the new monitor in, and shipped it back to them. Everything, including shipping, was covered under warranty.

One of my friends went through 4 LCD monitor exchanges with Dell before just giving up and sticking with the last one which had I think 4 hot pixels.

Most likely, if the LCD were still under warranty, you would deal directly with the manufacturer, Samsung in your case.

Certainly depends on the manufacturer, but in Apple's case I think anything under 4 dead pixles is found acceptable. Personally, I find that crap, but...

If Dell takes them back for even one dead pixel, kudos...

If I got a dead pixel, I'd just press the shit out of the screen to put others out, then I'd make the call.

lol

Sometimes one can massage the pixel back into play. A gentle rub over the affected area sometimes brings the bishes back to life.

Or your method for getting an RMA. :P

Dell just replaced a 19" flat panel Ultra Sharp for me earlier this week because the screen got scratched in an office move. I was surprised. We always purchase the 3-years Gold service plan though.

Of all 40-50 LCD's in my office, I have never seen a dead pixel yet.

Well, I got a samsung 191T and there are no dead pixels.

My old oly 2020z had a hot pixel and I didn't notice for a long time, then forgot about it and stopped noticicing.

Most of the time hot pixels are not a big deal.

My main dell 17 inch has one dead pixel... that shit makes me mad! It's only one pixel though so its not enough for me to bitch about to our network admin at work.

However if this was my home monitor I would be furious and be calling the shit out of them trying to get it replaced. It's fucking great how cheap the big LCD's are getting. Most of the people at my work have 2 20 inch Dell LCD's...
