Crazy mouse problem

Something weird just happened to my mouse. It works on practically EVERY surface BUT my mouse pad and it is a damn nice mouse pad. It works on my desk, on my bed, on my blanket, on a magazine and it even works slightly on glass. It refuses to work on my mouse pad. What the hell is going on?

is it a laser/optical mouse? try blowing on the underside of teh mouse where the laser is to ensure no dust is hindering it's performance. Also, be sure there isn't any on the mouse pad too. I've noticed that when the mouse pad, or the underside of the mouse gets dusty it degrades the mouse's precision.

I usually take one of those aerosol keyboard cleaners to the underside of the mouse and it does the trick.

I have a ton of those dust spray things. Just did it to the mouse and pad. No response. This is just freaking weird. The mouse works perfectly on my wooden table but as soon as it touches the mouse pad, it just stops working.

Things just got more weird. I shit you guys not but it seems like it isn't the mouse pad. It is only a certain patch on my desk that is causing this. Nothing around it look like it could cause interference but move it about a feet away and the mouse pad starts working. The mouse will not work on that part of the desk.

Im scared.

I forgot to ask if it is wireless.

i started getting annoyed at my wireless logitech mouse so I replaced it with a G5 laser mouse and haven't had any issues since.

I have an old mousepad that i thought would work... well its too glossy or slick (its a plastic pad) Something about the surface screws up laser mice.

The pad that DOES work is soft, flexible with a cloth surface.

Make sure your mouse pad is not a dark color. The lighter the mouse pad the better.

It is wireless. But it seems to be working normally now.

Still can't explain what happened as it was within the normal range of what I used it. And regardless of that, it was only about 3 feet away from the receiver so it shouldn't have been that. Anyway, seems like things are resolved now with no clear resolution. Should I find out that if indeed my desk was made from a tree taken from an Indian Burial ground, I shall update all of you guys.

^^^ f you have any other wireless devices near it, it can interfere with the signal of your mouse.
