Thanks for the info.

Yesterday on my way home I stopped by a Sprint store and asked them the questions I put on here and here are the answers

1) they CANNOT transfer the text messages from one to the other. this I feel is one of the most bone headed things I've heard. This is a phone meant for business. They should have thought about this from the start. Especially for those that are upgrading from one Windows mobile phone to another.

2) The stupid reps at this store had no idea that Rev A was even available on that phone. And when I mentioned it was upgradeable they had no idea that it needed to be upgraded to it either. And based on those answers I didn't bother asking them when it would be available.

You would think that a place that is in the business of selling phones would have answers for the products which they carry. Especially an actual Sprint store.

sprint stores/reps are terrible. I deal with it only because of sero. Otherwise I'd still be with big red. PERIOD.

Alright, I just dropped the hammer and ordered one off of eBay.

Got it for $399 + s/h

Can't wait to get it to replace my 6700.

As for my PPC-6700, it has a mind of its own. The damn thumbstick starts selecting whatever is on the screen and goes nuts with it.

i'm interested in the htc 6800 and the sero plans are attractive. i'm already a sprint customer and the sero plans are for new customers. is there anyway i can change over to it?
i suppose it's possible to port the number to another carrier and back to sprint. how much trouble would that be?

Just remember the 6700 was the *last* PPC phone to not have restrictions on the tethered modem. Going tethered on the 6800 you WILL get billed separately for the data even if you have unlimited web. So expect additional data usage charges...

It'll be cool if you can modify it with just the MSL or a registry tweak.

Mostly it looks like sprint isn't paying attention to the realm switch. Once they start it'll get interesting...

After a little bit of drama the last two days, I finally got a Mogul tonight.

So far I'm pretty happy with it. Haven't played with everything. The keyboard layout is different, that'll take some getting used to. The keyboard slides out the opposite way compared to the 6700. And this one, unlike the 6700 actually can turn off if you hold the power button down. My 6700 never did that which annoyed me.

It's much lighter, the plastics used seem much nicer, and the slide out keyboard seems much smoother and snappy. It feels like there are springs in it now instead of magnets which were used on the 6700 (i know this because I took my 6700 apart).

I might post more info about it later as I use it more. I'm trying to configure the wi-fi on it right now and get it synced with my computer to get all my contacts on it again.

Lexar MicroSD 2GB memory card

I just ordered me one of these for $18.99! Not bad if you ask me for name brand memory.

Lexar MicroSD 2GB memory card

Can't wait to plug it into my phone and put some music on it.

Does anyone know of a program that you can install on a phone running WM6 that lets you grab screenshots off the phone?

Found this one but don't know how reliable it is:

how do you run a speed test?
what would indicate rev A?
I thought it was some type of upgrade that would have to be done on the phone?

As for upgrading, I have no idea. I too thought that we'd have to upgrade the ROM on the phone. After reading some posts, some people have said that it's simply a matter of Sprint turning the Rev A feature on their towers and our phone will just start using those speeds. So at this point I have no idea. And to make it worse, if you ask many of the Sprint Reps they are and and don't know what you are talking about even though it's a product THEY sell.

I'm trying to decide between the blackberry and this phone. I like the blackberry for the aftermarket support and available programs, but I've heard good things about the HTC. Any comments?

of course I am biased but the extra $40 a month for bb service is a deal killer. I found that the mogul offers the same thing for free w/ outlook activesync and a @mail2web account.

There is a ROM update from HTC for the Mogul, but it does not include Rev A

http://www.america.htc.com/support/m...downloads.html

The latest ROM version includes added features that will help you get more out of your device!

This ROM update provides several key fixes for your Mogul:

* Improves Bluetooth compatibility and performance.
* Corrects keypad function when using On Demand.
* Corrects Alarm so it will ring when device is charging.
* Corrects several Sprint Music performance issues like fast-forwarding.
* Enables Sprint Music store to function on early production devices
* Adds new Sprint start up and sign off screens

All users should update their ROM even if they do not experience any of these issues currently.

Listen up, Mogul owners: we have some happy news to report, following up on some previous noodling and speculation about GPS on the Mogul. Sprint has posted an official statement about their ROM hijinks:

The Bad News:
So the last ROM update for the Sprint Mogul didn't go so hot - Sprint is currently suggesting you downgrade to deal with some nagging bluetooth issues - the very issues the upgrade was supposed to help with.

The Good News:
They intend to make a fix available by the end of the month.

The Awesome News:

Additionally, HTC is currently developing a separate ROM update which enables the EV-DO Rev. A and GPS capabilities that are already built into the Mogul hardware. Sprint and HTC plan to make this software ROM available in early 1Q 2008. We would also like to extend our thanks to those customers that have taken the time to identify and report these issues to us.
