I hate to ask this, as I feel like a failure searching Google, but I can't find a single GOOD program that will allow me to convert multiple M4A files to MP3.

Can someone please, please, please tell me of a good program?

i believe m4c files are aac files? itunes should convert them into mp3.

 

open in itunes, right click, convert to mp3

 

Well yeah all that works, & so do some other programs, but if they were downloaded from Itunes & you do not have the password for the account that downloaded the songs your SOL.
I have a few 100 I copied from a friends ipod & he doesn't know the password so I can't listen to them.

 

Hmm, not sure how to strip DRM without the password.

 

I searched for days on it. There's not a way I could find. There were some ways that worked before itunes 6.0, but since the songs were downloaded from 6 it won't work.

 

Hence the point of DRM...those songs you have are illegal

 

I found a program on download.com, it's called Free Mp3 Wma Converter... It converts M4A's to mp3s

My iTunes is like ver. 4.7 so I'm OK

 

To rip the drm the best way is just to use 2 computers and use mytunes redux or ourtunes or a prog like that, keeps the format the same. Easy CD DA supports conversion and ripping to and from almost all audio formats. Converting between lossy formats like m4a and mp3 gives you pretty low quality files

 

Yeah but you need the password to be able to play it first.

 

I don't want to keep the m4a files, that's the problem. I want mp3s. I haven't heard any loss of quality for the songs I've already converted from m4a to 192kbps mp3.

 

The only way to do it is to burn the M4As to CD. This removes the DRM a they are burned as WAV files. Then rip the CD to MP3.

I use JHYMN to remove DRM from M4A, but I have theuserid and password for the files so I can do the fairplay key removal.
