BB/WM phone
BB/WM phone
I need help picking a new device. I prefer Verizon as I already have VZW and can just switch over the PC card to the new device. Sprint is OK also as I have a 22% discount with them. T-mo doesn't work anywhere around my house - strange, big black hole right next to a major freeway.
1. I need to be able to grab e-mail from an exchange server. We haven't chosen an exchange server hosting service yet, so if it is a blackberry, we can go with one that has the blackberry enterprise server.
2. I need to be able to access some web pages - so a decent browser would be nice.
3. I need to be able to run a program to SSH into a *nix server
4. I would like to drop my PC card and be able to use the PDA/BB for tethering to the laptop if needed.
Any thoughts as to what I should be getting?
TIA

Verizon doesn't have EDGEAnd according to:
http://www.verizonwireless.com/b2c/s...featureId=2424
it says you can use it on those BBs. Maybe I am misunderstanding what they are saying though
Whatever, they have EVO I think, which is like Edge....And they were saying that they were going to allow to use it as a modem, but for $15 bucks a month.....I think other companies let you do it by just using up minutes.
sprint and verizon are EV-DO (the CDMA carriers).
T-mobile and Cingular are edge (the GSM carriers).
With t-mobile or cingular, you can "tether" your device (blackberry or whatever) to your computer to use as a modem...which takes out of the data plan. Most data plans are unlimited unless you get the cheapest one, but you have to get one of the more expensive plans in order to get "tether" capabilities.
I think Verizon and Sprint have the cards instead. Their internet is also faster than using edge.
