OK I think I get what MS is doing with Windows 8. Much like how Apple said the iPhone is running OS X on an ARM chip MS is bringing Windows to ARM chips. The foundation of windows, the lower level kernel stuff. I don't expect MS to bring explorer.exe and the keyboard mouse interface to an ARM tablet. I expect a brand new UI but still running on "Windows". Much like how iOS is OS X but with a completely different user interface.
I think the benefit of this is that MS can port their underlying technology over to ARM for example their pen and handwriting recognition that they've been working on for 10 yrs on x86 Windows can be ported to ARM windows and work right away instead of having to rewrite them for a new OS.

The keyboard slides out from underneath the screen and the screen stands up on it's edge. It's like a slide out keyboard from on a cell phone like the droid or epic 4g, except that the screen stands up.
me too. I've been looking at building my own on a mini-itx board for a few weeks now that I found this case: Fractal Design Holds 6 HD's in a very small/sleek form factor and appearance. I moved into a condo and my server is way too loud so I need to build something that's dead silent. I really want to go with a dual core atom board, but I don't think the hardware is enough to last a few years.
meh, I wouldn't go with atom way too low performance. I had my eye on one of the new Core processors. The Core i3 2100. These chips are quite powerful and in the graphics are builtin. Atoms processor and graphics are meh.
But if one of those boxes comes out I'll just get one of those....
I put it in the W7 thread a few months ago when MS released the embedded version of W7 that would allow for these boxes to be made. There's a few in development now and I'm hoping to see more about them at CES. I don't want to wait until CEDIA this summer for them to come out.

All told, my hf3+custom-fit is right between the prices of these two phones. Disappointing that engadget linked to a $1000 set of custom-fit when the drivers in those Ultimate Ears are probably leagues beyond the ones at the show.
