has outlook been updated recently (through the windows update)...security updates??

because i was having the same problem, its some kind of privacy/security feature for spam email. keeps you from being able to open (spam) links. that may be it. although I was still able to open regular email links, but it did block spam mail links..

This relates to a similar question I have... anytime I click on a mailto: link in an Office product (be it in Outlook, Word, Excel, etc), my computer practically crashes while Internet Explorer opens 36 windows (yes, I counted, there are always 36) that all have the "This page cannot be found" message on them, but no new email message pops up, like it's supposed to.

Over time I've just trained myself not to click on any email addresses and to remove all hyperlinks in the documents I'm working on, but that's annoying. Any ideas? Our IT guy sucks ass so there's no point calling him.

I had that on my work email.

But turned it off somehow I'll have to look and see which checkbox I unchecked.

The place you are thinking of is Tools, Options, Security, Change Automatic Download Settings.... But this doesn't sound like the issue...
