I am running a merchant account app on my phone that allows me to accept credit cards in the field right on the spot. I would LIKE to setup a bluetooth printer in my van so I can print receipts for the customer. I purchased printing a printing app by Eurosmartz that will send the print job to the queue on server software on my computer, and then prints on the printer. The problem is that Apple (like it does with EVERYTHING) will not allow this. I am actually very much fed up with the POS iPhone as I have had 3 replacements do to hardware issues, but am stuck as long as I have this merchant account. They only offer it for the iPhone. Does anyone know if I were to Jailbreak the phone, would it be possible to transmit the print job over bluetooth to the computer? I am guessing it is not possible as it would probably have to be built into the printing software.

 

ive seen apps that let you print stuff off printers.. so what your issue is.

 

Why not email them a receipt, like the Apple store does? I think you're trying too hard.

 

The apps don't print off the printers directly. The iPhone cannot install drivers to do this. It sends the print job to the computer which then prints to the printer.

 

The merchant app does email a copy of the receipt, but does not email a copy with their signature. I've had a couple that mentioned they would like this.

 

Get a very cheap netbook to hook the printer to.

 

I have the laptop. The problem is being able to get the receipt from the phone with the signature over to the computer. It works in a wifi network, but not bluetooth.
