you can set up a free FTP account using dropbox.com. you can share up to 2.25GB for free and upgrade if you want more space.

remote connect, windows built-in or any other freeware clients... ftp is the simplest, using serv-u or similar programs.

AIM and such are excruciatingly slow as you are routing your data via their capped servers.

P.S. if you guys do this exchange of files a lot, I suggest VPN if you are network friendly.

It isn't that slow (at least MSN isn't). For the end user it is a easy way of transferring files. I have had to do it many times with people who aren't familiar with FTP or VPN.

Yeah, AIM is PAINFULLY slow. 2GB would take weeks.

Just find out where the porn originated from and download it straight from the source

To make your own torrents, you need to supply a tracker. There are plenty of public trackers to use. Just don't give the torrent file out to anybody else. If you are still concerned about privacy, rar into a big file, give it a random name and password it.

I love transferring large files by BT. Anytime both of us are online, it will start transferring and resume is not an issue.

^glad you figured it out.

on a related note, I download alot of music, namely 1-2 hr DJ mixes. One that I wanted was in .rar (versus the usual mp3)...would this play in Itunes or do I need to then convert to mp3 after the download??

I was wondering this and want to know before I download it and try it out. thanks.

RAR is like ZIP. Download WinRAR or 7Zip and decompress the file to get to the actual music files.

the torrent would have worked if you setup multiple machines, preferably as many hosts as possible, with the file. with one seed its just as effective as all other options

I know I'm late and the party is over but this for next time

Use this to do one time transfers of files of any size. This would've been much easier than what you did
