shonuff, this is my first BB so I'm new to installing themes. Do I just point my BB browser to that link and it will download/install the theme? or do I need to do anything else?

I installed that earlier. It works so much better than the previous version.

Ya, go to that link from your bb and then an install screen will pop up. Once installed change your theme from the options menu.

The theme installed OK, but then I changed my home screen to 1 row of buttons instead of two, and not only did it change the background automatically, but I lost the customized signal/battery bar thing. Here is what my home screen looks like:

Any suggestion for resetting the theme to the original settings? The only option I saw was to change the theme defaults.

Did she claim insurance? did she send the old one back?

Yeah by the time it dried out and started working she had already filed the claim with Verizon. She got her new one 2 weeks ago and has already sent the other back.

Are you guys pretty happy with you Storms? My wife and I are about due for upgrades and just want to make sure it's worth getting. The extra cost for data will sting, but toys cost money, right?

Also, does anyone know if any comparable new phones are coming out for VZ within the next few months?

I'm happy enough with my Storm...I think they rushed it too much, though.

That said, here is the roadmap from RIM for 2009. These are the devices that will be coming this year (so they say)

Thanks for the info. Do you know of any other phones (non-RIM) that are coming out to compete with the Storm?

^^ Again, thanks for the info. It's information overload for the current phones. I'll need to look through them a bit more. It's more the service requirements that will make or break my decisions.

BTW - I just went to the Verizon web site and found out they have buy one Storm get one Storm free with 2 year activation per phone.

Still, that $140/month fee is keeping me away ATM.

There is a program called Capture It. OTA download link: http://www.thetechmogul.com/CaptureIt/CaptureIt.jad

I set my right soft button to take a screenshot. Otherwise you can take it from the Blackberry menu.

You can also use JL Cmder to take screenshots, but I haven't tried that yet.

Do the 2 activations have to be on different accounts? Or can you have a two-person family plan and activate both phones? If you can have the family plan, you might be able to save a little money per month.

I use JL_Cmder because it also has an option to wipe your device.

No, they can be on a family share plan. The $140/mo included:
$70 - 700 minutes shared
$30 - (data phone 1)
$5 - 250 texts (phone 1)
$30 - (data phone 2)
$5 - 250 texts (phone 2)

Right now we have a 400 minute plan they don't even offer any more and only pay $60/mo (no data, no texts) and never go over our minutes. I talked to the wife about it last night and she said to forget about it even though she was the one complaining about her phone.

Blah, I'd hate to give up my unlimited texts for Verizon. I'm really considering the change after my contract is over in April.

The nice thing about Capture It is that your phone doesn't need to be connected to your computer to take a screenshot.

AMgala is the battery the only big negative about the phone?
because when I first tried it it was lagging ridiculously trying to open apps. and surfing the web but who knows maybe it was because my friend had to many apps. open.
I just wanted to know because I'm kind of debating whether to sell my Iphone and get the Storm because it looks great.
But seeing as battery being an issue I'm kind of scared about getting it.

Storm Discontinued

Honestly, I can't really say I'm surprised at this one little bit, although the timing really does seem obscene to me. But at the same time maybe not so much. I was kind of curious as to why there were very little applications in the BlackBerry App World designed for the Storm, when one would have thought RIM would be wanting to push as many applications as they could out for their latest and freshest device.
But alas, we got the confirmation not too long ago from Kevin down in Vegas for CTIA who overheard some RIM employees talking about why there are so little apps there. The answer? Basically because well, the Storm will not be around for that much longer. All stores were told to clear out their inventory as soon as possible and the only information given is that device will shortly be discontinued to make way for a new and (hopefully) much improved touch screen BlackBerry, but the Storm will still have support from RIM for at least a few more months. Best yet, K-Dawg managed to snap some photos of the replacement device!!
We got the photos folks to prove it, so hit this link to see for yourselves!!

Sorry, I didn't see this post until now. The OS lag was very annoying, and that prompted me to install a beta OS (.103). Things were much improved after that, but still not perfect.
