I'm in the market for an mp3 player. Looking at 60gb ipod photo. Do I even bother looking at anything else?

That sony network walkman looks pretty cool... but I think it only comes in 20gb and its not color.

Only things holding me back are I heard battery life stinks on Ipods, and I'd kind of like to stick with .wma.

Any suggestions, or do I just get the ipod? And if I do get the ipod.... should I wait? Is anything better coming out in the near future (ipod w/ video, perhaps)?

 

I love my Ipod. Didn't even really bother to look at anything else when I bought it last year.


BEETROOT do you run? My only complaint (besides battery life. I knew what I was getting into) is that it freezes after a while when running.

It's supposed to have a 25 minute buffer or anti-skip or whatever it is, but hello, a lot of people run for longer than 25 minutes, and after that it's D-U-N done.

There are some solutions I guess, such as holding it in your hand while you run, but that is uncomfortable for me, and I prefer it clipped to my waist.


But besides that, I'm a believer. Great product.

 

I still dont get peoples bitch over battery.

I have a first gen..with the actual scroll wheel...the model that IS supposed to have the problems with battery life and it has none.

Just keep it on charge when you arent using it, or the battery will drain itself.

I actually love the new Sony's. I went with a 60GB ipod because of connectivity. None of the other portable HD players have car kits like Ipods do. It is insane. The aftermarket support for Ipods is unreal.

 

Ive got a creative zen jukebox. 30gb.
Its great, battery life is good, I love it.


but no one makes a god damn thing for it. no car kits, NOTHING.

 

Good point. I really liked my Rio Karma until it started to crap out (after 2 years), but finding accessories was a bitch. The other day I bought a FM transmitter for my IPOD mini at Bed Bath and Beyond......

Ipod is a trendy option. Is like driving a 325i IMO

 

Thats why I was looking for something else at first, I didn't want to buy an ipod just because its an ipod.

But, I can't find anything better. Ipod is rated the best at every comparison site I've looked at (CNET has it at 8.3 )

The iriver gets a ton of complaints on lousy controls, and the biggest one is 20gb. I want more than that.

Show me something better and I'll get it, but I don't see anything. I want something that looks nice, color screen, > 20gb, with a good selection of aftermarket stuff.

Accessory support = IPOD all the way. A nobrainer if you ask me...

 

That is pretty much the sole reason I got an iPod. If I could pick up FM stations on it at the gym (like my roommates ZEN) I would have not qualms about getting it what-so-ever.

 

I bought an FM modulator (Itrip) so I can use my old radio Sony Walkman to listen to my MP3's.......oh wait... crap
