Hey folks, I think its time I got with the normal peeps, and picked up a cell phone.
Also, not to mention being bitched at by my friends for not having one. Even my mom has one and my 10 year old nephew
. Anyways, I had a few questions to ask, so plz bare w/ this cell phone noob.
1) What is a good camera phone to get under verizon? I am leaning more towards something by motorola, or LG series. The price range I plan on spending is around 2-400ish, give or take.
2) Would it be good to pick up the LG 7000, or wait for the 8000 to come out? Has the 8000 come out yet, if not when? And also, whats the asking price...
3) Whats this analog, digital, and tri mode shit I keep on seeing throughout a few of the threads?
I "think" that covers the questions I have for now, I'll hopefully make a decision sometime in a week or 2 or 3. If you guys have any questions, feel free to ask, as I'd be more then happy to find out more information, or have questions the people at the verizon store can answer for me. All opinions are welcomed.

i wm waiting for the 8000 to come out. it should not be to long before it does. dont get motorola. even when the new ones come out they are still going to have the same charging ports the current ones do which is junk. as for service, mt6forlife could not of said it better

i would prob say in the fall sometime. who knows, could be sooner. i dont think lg is to pleased with the popularity of the 7000 so they might try and push the 8000 sooner. i believe its going to be the same size but it will have a play, stop, ff, and rw on the outside flip and will be evdo capable which will be a lot quicker then the 1xrr now

i just got the samsung a670 camera phone. i'm really happy with it, and for $150 with a 1 year contract, its not a bad price. I've had iffy experiences with motorolas. LGs are good, but i think the 7000 is fugly

Camera phones are overrated, imo. They take shitty pics and are too damn expensive. I got my LG 4400b for free after rebate and it has been perfect for me. I suggest a flip phone due to them being easier to carry around. I have had 3 LG's so far and all have been very reliable, and I beat the crap out of them. Get the insurance too, its worth it if you use it just once.

Not to take this thread off the topic or anything, but if you had a choice, what would be better, the moto v710, or the LG 8000? And would you say that can be a fair comparison or no? If not, plz explain the differences...

It's there, but you just have to look for it. Just go to Phones > LG > vx8000. It shows all the Lg phones.

supports streaming video playback at QCIF resolution and 15 fps / supports music-on-demand.
Can Verizon even support that today?

English please!!!!
It appears that the LG8000 is designed to work with Verizon services that are currently only deployed in Washington DC and San Diego....and maybe a few other cities. Officially Verizon says it will have this EVDO service rolled out nationwide at "x" date. I would assume that is the date in which the LG8000 would be available.
EVDO is a faster service than what is currently deployed (simply known as 1x or 3G). With these faster speeds, you should be able to transfer data much faster, which will allow the phone to support a variety of multimedia functions such as TV channels, video on demand, music on demand, downloading MP3 from a vending machine, live streaming video and news feeds, video camera monitoring, etc.

Allright, so its available in San Diego, I presume thats correct. Would someone be able to buy the phone from down there, and then take it back to their local verizon store and activate it?
