Thumbs down ATT wireless question

I currently am using ATT wireless with a 2yr contract and I have had it for before Cingular merged with ATT...Now my phone's sim card is still ATT but the bills I get are Cingular...Is there anyway I can leave my contract early?

No, you're still committed to ATT. Same thing happened to the employee program we have. When Cingular took over, they kept the accounts separate and used a centralized billing. There was an $18 changeover fee to a Cingular account. Now I currently have one account with each.

its just like when a bank buys your loan from another bank, you are still committed to those terms and conditions

I'm a former ATTWS customer as well (still carrying a TDMA phone). The changeover fee is the core of the fight I'm expecting whenever I get around to upgrading my phone and re-signing. There's no way in hell I'm going to pay that fee. I didn't choose the merger, they did. I don't see any reason why I should be expected to pay for "changing over." If the fee is mandatory, then they can take the $18 off the price of the phone.

They had fees from before when ATT and Cingular were seperate and changed to GSM, if you wanted a Full Coverage you had to go to GSM and pay for the phone out of your pocket, yes they would bargain, but it was your responsibility to pay if you wanted nationwide coverage.

CIngular - $35
T-Mobile - $35
SPrint - $36

Verizon must have a lot of people cancel service and resign on different names for discounts on phones, or it might that they charge ESN Change fees sometimes, lol haha thats why they have there activation lower

Q1 2005 Churn Rate
Verizon Wireless 1.3%
Cingular 1.7%
T-Mobile 2.5%
Sprint 2.8%

Verizon had the lowest churn rate in 2004 and Q1 2005 at 1.33% and 1.5%. The company added 6.3 million customers last year, top in the industry.

The company has regularly invested more than $4 billion nationally each year since its inception -- and more than $5 billion last year alone -- to expand and upgrade its nationwide wireless network.

I'm in the same boat...i think I have a year left on my contract...and am thinking about switching company's.

Which is most preferred? I heard Verizon wasn't too bad...I'm thinking of looking into them and T-Mobile.

My sister had T-mobile for 4yrs and she never had decent signal and now she has Cingular and has signal everywhere even in people's basements. I hear Verizon is great too and maybe better.

Damn . . . I'm legacy AT&T Wireless and want the new RAZR V3. If they charge me the $18 just to change over, I'll tell them to shove it and stick it out with my V600.
