Apple quietly updates ipods

Apple announced new iPods today as expected (the Apple Store). The new iPods include

iPod Mini
- New 6GB Model. $249
- 4GB Model. $199
- Up to 18hrs Battery Life
- 4 Colors

iPod Photo
- 30GB. $349
- 60GB. $449

20GB iPods ($299) remain. The 40GB iPod appears to have been discontinued.

i dont understand why people wouldn't just spend 50 dollars more to get the 20 gig ipod instead of getting the 6gig???

Its usually because people want the Mini form factor vs the larger iPod. Personally I'd go for the larger version, but many want a smaller size.

Werd, smaller works better in the gym etc....its why i added a shuffle to my collection...best for the gym.

me neither the mini is only a little smaller than the 20gig version which is pretty slim. i personally don't understand either cause the 20gig is small enough to use in the gym or whatever athletic activity.

really, you should be use the shuffle for the gym, flash memory can handle jolts of jogging or running or whatever. unless you're using a tread mill and your ipod is sitting on the treadmill , the jolts are too much for the harddrive and could cause failure....
i use my zen touch walking to class, only physical activity i'll be using it for.

I got a RCA Lyra with 128 MB memory for around $80 at Target. It accepts and SD card, so I got a 1 GB card for about $40 and it's great for the treadmill. I was using my Rio Karma 20 GB, but it was causing havoc on the HD.
