yeah lots of windows features coming over. Full disk encryption, TRIM support for SSDs, full-screen apps!, previous versions without needing an external backup drive and you can now FINALLY resize a window using any of the corners instead of just the lower right corner. That was probably the most annoying thing about OS X. Seems like finally they'll have an OS that won't drive me insane with stupid UI decisions.
Also mail has a much better ui like Outlook or ipad mail app

Considering the only "server" hardware they sell is a mac mini, they might as well give it away. If they really wanted to be cool they would support Lion Server running on VMware. I think I just saw a pig with wings.

yes
I think virtual box supports OS X virtualization. Though that might still be in beta

If Lion can be run in Virtualbox...I might compose an argument in favor of ditching our physical OS X servers. They're mainly used for Mac client management (Workgroup Manager) and whenever we need to image machines (they only handle NetBoot, the actual image is pulled from other servers). Neither of the two tasks require a great deal of horsepower.

This person was nice enough to figure out how to get Lion running under VMWare Fusion. I followed the instructions and it worked!

Will that work on ESX/i?

Don't think so. VMware only shows OS X (Server) as a supported guest under Fusion. You would be in violation of your license agreement to run OS X on non Apple hardware

Looks like a great deal of the new Lion features are going to require a trackpad or magic mouse. The multi-touch gesture stuff looks really cool. I like how it handles full screen apps and mission control looks cool.

I'm looking forward to the upgrade, especially for only $30.

Pretty sweet how Lion has "Find my Mac" if it's stolen or lost.
Although I guess i won't be as accurate as finding your iPhone or iPad w/ GPS.

It's a bit annoying that the only way to buy it is through the app store. If I didn't have the fat pipe I'd be pissed.

Also phil schiller mentioned that the server features would be a separate download at extra cost so they aren't free.

Last I saw there is a check box to disable it. I think it makes sense with the tackpad. With the mouse it's a little freaky for awhile.

I'll be shocked if there is not some very simple documented way to burn it to a DVD or memory stick.

If they don't have disc image burning option then it may be a while. It will only run on a Mac authorizedc or the account that downloaded it.

^it's one price of $30 for all your computers.
I think Phee shouldn't steal it and actually pay for software for once....
