I've had a few people looking at my phone when fiddling with it, so far no one asked.

That was a stupid way to respond. I'm not intending to hurt anyone. I had an iphone for almost two years and they are great. But once you realize the customization available with other OSes you can't really deny that the iphone is extremely boring. Page after page of rows and columns of apps.

I didn't make the post be a troll - again, I think the iphone is great device. It's just really boring to use after a while and jailbreaking doesn't really make it much better.

I want my hands on Froyo
edit: but its the fact that I can have my phone unlocked and I dont need a contract to hold me in paying all that money for phone service. I'm only 19 and in college I really dont need to be dishing out 30 dollars (or however much it is) a month to have 3G
So for me customization matters a little more.

I've used the Eris and the Incredible a few times and a couple of times, respectively. They're both great phones, and IMO the Incredible even moreso, but it is newer after all. Much faster than the 3GS, even, and definitely some added functionality.
My point is, the 3GS is basically a year-old (well, at its core its essentially coming up on 3 years) device and up until recently there wasn't a device (Incredible) that was very similar to it, and notably better at everything, IMO. Even then, I'm not going to shell out the money for a new phone, and I'm perfectly happy with what I got now. If I did upgrade to anything but an Apple product (anyone here and in real life can tell you I have little interest in Apple stuff, except for iPods) it would be a significant downgrade because a good 20-40% of the use would be gone, kinda.
Pages and pages, yes, but all available at the swipe of a finger. It's a moot point anyways though... changing scenes or looking for a widget doesn't take that long at all. But I've always been function > form kind of guy so it doesn't impress me.
The 4G interests me, but no way near enough to actually think about getting one. Even if it was the same price as the Incredible, as fast or faster, same features or even more.

To kinda clarify the first part of my post.... everyone chooses their devices, almost always for good reasons. They choose it because it fits their purpose for it, and if someone absolutely hates the iPhone, thinks its the most overrated piece of garbage out there. And they may have a point if all they do is make calls and text, or whatever.
I don't get insulted easily, especially through the internet. No reason to. To get butthurt at all because someone said something about the iPhone is stupid, and what does annoy me is stupidity. Not saying that's you at all since I already knew before your post that you had an iPhone, but you and many others have your reasons.

I also have location services turned off most of the time, turn them on to use TomTom or the Maps app.
My phone can last a solid two days on one charge, usually longer, but it does get a charge from the in-car audio hook-up while I listen to Pandora when driving. When I didn't have the adapter to charge my phone during playback, I'd be lucky to get more than a day of usage on a full charge.

iPhone 4G display put under a microscope, 960 x 640 a lock?
Posted May 29th 2010 1:54PM by Vladislav Savov
You've seen it in San Jose, you've seen plenty of it in Vietnam, and now, apparently, you're seeing the iPhone 4G display waving at you from the center of Europe, namely the Czech Republic. We haven't been able to corroborate that these fellas do indeed have a legitimate next-gen iPhone part in their paws, but hey, that's what they claim. The guys from superiphone.cz have gone above and beyond the leaker's call of duty, by taking the supposed next-gen screen under a microscope and figuring out its pixel density and display technology. According to them, the new iPhone will sport an IPS panel, much like the other handheld device Apple introduced this year, with a cool 960 x 640 resolution. This quadruples the total number of pixels from the iPhone 3GS -- making rescaling of current apps a straightforward affair -- while also giving Apple the right to claim the highest pixel density yet seen on a phone. You'll find similarly zoomed-in pics of the Nexus One and iPod touch screens at the source, and the answers to all your iPhone-related questions at WWDC in a few days' time.
