Plot thickens...


After my phone screen was replaced, I noticed that Tap to Wake no longer worked... I checked in General > Accessibility and it doesn't even show up in there.. what gives?!? Any input from the peanut gallery before i take it back to the Apple Store? Apple iPhone X on iOS 12.0.1

Dude, what do you do to my phone? Sounds like the screen is still bad. Make them give you a new phone. Tell them you dont fell like driving back again. Its been perfect for me except when it got screen burn due to the OLED screen, but they replaced the screen. That was more then 6 months ago. I would just tell them to get you a new one. It has Apple Care plus for a few more years so you will be fine.

Just realized that 3D touch is gone too.. what the heck happened... I didn't even have it for 2 weeks.. Gonna set up an appointment to do just that.. This is ridiculous..

Maybe it got knocked during shipping. You can do a backup and restore and see what happens, but yea, I smell a brand new or refurb X in your future.

Gonna go there later today and ask them.. Just backed up the phone and going to try to factory reset completely to see if that fixes it before restoring my stuff as I'm sure they'll try and rule out a software bug too.. Neither 3D touch NOR Tap to wake show up in my settings AT ALL


Don't take this as me blaming you Whiskers, I don't think it happened in shipping or anything you did wrong , the 3D touch and tap to wake was working until they replaced the screen last Thursday.

No worried. I always get excited when I know Im going to get something new from it breaking anyway. Let me know if they give you any problems.

I mean i was pretty stoked to get a new screen, it looked amazing when they pulled it out after repair (despite them FUBARing the screw.. maybe that messed things up

a factory reset brought back both 3D touch and Tape to Wake to the menu Let's see if the restore of my data will fix it or break it now...

I was taking my gym bag out of the locker, not realizing my phone was on the side of the locker... My new XS Max went airborne and hit the hard tile... Newly cracked screen I have Apple Care but still... damn.

No. I like for my second phone to be an Android, just so I know how it works and what's going on.

But...I think the XR will be a solid solution for a huge number of people.

To add to the curiosity of it all, the R doesn't mean much either. Phil Schiller, gingerly gripping a cup of coffee across from me, said the letters Apple uses never stand for something specific. But then his voice softened a little as he started to tell me about what the letters mean to him.

"I love cars and things that go fast, and R and S are both letters used to denote sport cars that are really extra special," he said with a smile. That's not exactly the answer I was hoping for, but I'm not sure what I should've expected from a) Apple's SVP of global marketing and b) a longtime fan of Porsches and Audis.

I'm a fairly heavy user, and the worst I have experienced is ending the day at 43%.

iOS betas might exacerbate battery problems, but I think the current b5 is not so bad.

If youre using a gps app such as Waze, and you dont have it plugged in and charging at the same time, its going to suck the life out of your battery in a blink.

Even having both of those apps (and knowing they are indeed huge battery hogs) I haven't had major battery issues.

Wife got the Project Red iPhone XR. She really likes it so far. The thing is blazing fast like the XS and XS Max. She's definitely getting used to it quickly.

There may be a thread on this from the past. Old guys, hearing aids, iPhone and Acura. Not all of those get along. Like with many others with hearing aids that bluetooth from the iPhone to the ears, everything worked great until iOS 11 came out. Since then, when a call comes in it goes straight to the iPhone instead of the speaker system. Not cool, especially if the phone is in my pocket and my passenger needs to participate in the call. My hearing aid supplier said to do this crazy workaround: Settings>General>Accessibility>MFI Hearing Aids, then slide Play Ringtones to Off. It works, All agree that it's not a Honda/Acura problem, nor a hearing aid problem, it's Apple, iOS version 11 and later. Just remember to turn Play Ringtones back on when you get out of the car.

Not many on Acurazine needs this information but maybe it'll show up in Search for someone who needs it in the future.
