so.. friend of mine bought those white iphone4 kits off ebay (costs 200+)
looks pretty nice.. i guess it won't be for average joe due to the price but yea.. it's probably for bragging rights for him anyways

so he asked me if i wanted to replace my batter, now he opened up his iphone, he has better idea of how things are tied up and what not.. only for like 15 bucks for batter
should i do it?
my 3GS is probably consistently connected to charger, but it's not much of a problem

i take it off the charger at 6 a.m.

by 10 p.m. its at about 20%

sooo 5% an hour.

it has died only a few times before the 10 p.m. mark with heavy use.

i put it on the charger at around midnight, take it off around 9am. at midnight its at around 20-30%. I'm not a heavy user, I use it for texting, wifi browsing, facebook, gmail. I might talk on it about 10 minutes tops per day. But this was the same usage and charging schedule with the 3GS and with that I would be down to around 5% at night. noticeable.

So you're getting about 20 hours. Interesting.

yea, roughly.

here is mine today.

im over 10 hours off the charger.. nearly 2 hours of Internet usage/texting.

76%

at this rate, my phone would last over 40 hours with 8-10 hours of internet usage/texting.
but my usage is usually way higher, thus making it closer to 20 hours with heavy usage.

the batteries on iphone.. when you connect to the charger and when it's full, does it disconnect from the battery and just run it off the ac adapter?

i'm used to not charging my phone overnight, so i charge in the morning for a little, and charge as needed basis... i'm just wondering if this is worse for the battery life

It is better to give your phone FULL charges.. The phone will stop charging once its at a true 100% and run of of the charger alone. Youll notice the battery icon will change when this crossover happens..

god damn it my 3GS is a piece of shit now. I think you guys are right.... by the time the battery goes bad, it's about time to get the new iPhone. Hmmm.......

My 3GS had amazing battery life before, but today after pulling it off the car charger it was around 75%. I was using 3G to surf for 15 minutes, then played games for a while, and had a couple of phone calls in between that, lasting about 6-7 minutes. It was steady at around 40% then all of a sudden it died. Tried turning it on but it didn't work. Put it back on the charger and it was completely dead.

I don't think I'll be getting another iPhone, at least for a while. I don't know about other offerings right now either so I'm kind of stuck... I would have sold my 3GS a long time ago but the i4 and some of the Android phones were having issues at the time so I dunno what to get...

I used to be able to go from 8am to midnight on a single full charge if I did some 3G browsing (~30 mins), made some calls, texts, played games (~30 mins) and even played music while driving... now within 2 hours of doing all that my phone will be dead

Same shit happened with my original iPhone
Same shit happened with my iPod Photo

Will I ever learn? Maybe iOS 4 will automagically solve all my problems?

Fuck no, OS4 did nothing but make my 3G STUPID slow. All of the apps are very choppy and crash quite a bit. Plus when I slide my finger across the screen to answer a call, it will slide over and not connect me to the call, therefore I miss it.

I've been thinking about downgrading to a late 3.xx OS to see if it runs faster. Shit is frustrating.

For how much? The thing is, while the battery life has definitely gotten worse, much worse than it was when the phone was new. Its fine most of the time though, then out of nowhere it has issues like freezing (in native apps even, like Safari)

I probably overreacted yesterday, but this shit always happens in the most inopportune times. Yesterday it happened while I was at the DMV.... I basically had nothing to cure my boredom for a good 45 minutes, and I needed to contact people.

You probably remember my facebook post about 99 chicken.... yup, never happened.

well.. he said he'll do it for free for me
and the battery is about 10~15 bucks he said

so, if you buy the 2 batteries (one for you and one for me) it'd be replaced for free =)

Although I wonder if verizon caved into apples requirements or if it was apple that caved into verizons, which means verizons crap vcast stuff will come with the phone.
