That's what I have to and it fits my needs. I like that it's slip resistant I can use it as one if those no slip pads where if I put something top of it it won't slide around when I'm driving

June 16 (Bloomberg) -- Microsoft Corp.’s failure to deliver a tablet-friendly version of Windows is forcing big computer makers like Hewlett-Packard Co. and Dell Inc. to rely on rival software to help them keep up with Apple Inc.’s iPad.

Windows 7, the most recent version of Microsoft’s operating system, is too unwieldy for an iPad-like device, said David Daoud, an analyst at IDC. A lighter edition won’t be ready until the fourth quarter, giving Apple almost a year’s head start in the burgeoning market for tablets.

“The Windows world needs to respond,” said Daoud, whose firm is based in Framingham, Massachusetts. “They will have to play catch-up.”

The iPad’s success caught much of the PC industry by surprise. Within two months of the April 3 release, Apple sold 2 million iPads -- more than IDC expected for the entire tablet industry in 2010. To catch up, Dell and Hewlett-Packard are turning to Google Inc.’s Android operating system. Taiwanese manufacturers that build most of the world’s PCs said they’re dissatisfied with Microsoft’s current lineup.

AT&T hacker's home raided, drugs found, dude detained (update)

Man, one day you have the whole world's ear to talk about slack network security, and the next you're in the joint. Andrew Auernheimer, Goatse Security's hacker-in-chief and a key player in the unearthing of a major security flaw exposing iPads surfing AT&T's airwaves, is today facing felony charges for possession of a variety of potent drugs. That wouldn't be such intriguing news by itself, but the discovery was made by local law enforcers who were in the process of executing an FBI search warrant. Hey, wasn't the FBI going to look into this security breach? Yes indeedy. While nobody is yet willing to identify the reasons behind this warrant, it's not illogical to surmise that Andrew's crew and their online exploits were the cause for the raid. So there you have it folks, it's the first bit of advice any publicist will give you: if you're gonna step out into the glaring light of public life, you'd better clean out your closet first.

Update: Before y'all get in an uproar about "white hacker this" and "Police State that," let's keep in mind that this Andrew Auernheimer character (a.k.a. "Weev") is one unsavory dude (not to mention a raving anti-Semite): check out this New York Times piece on Internet Trolls if you don't believe us. After all, it's not really a stretch that law enforcement might be after someone who's in possession of ecstasy, cocaine, LSD, and various other pharmaceuticals.

Yeah I'm curious as to why MS is choosing to use Windows 7 Embedded instead of Windows Phone 7 for a tablet OS. I've never seen Embedded or Phone 7 for that matter but the fact that they're leaving the programming up to third parties to make the customize the software is going to lead to massive fail just like the Plays for Sure project was.

Flash 10.1 ported to iPad, burninates the countryside? (video)
Posted Jul 4th 2010 11:20AM by Sean Hollister

Take it with a grain of salt, but it's looking like some prayers have been answered on this Fourth of July -- Flash (or is that "Frash"?) is running on this man's iPad, cleverly ported from Android. The YouTube video claims that by using a compatibility layer, the Android runtime can play Flash content natively in Safari, but only on iPad so far -- iPhone 3GS support is planned soon, as is iOS 4, and there's a call for developers to move the project forward at GitHub. We've no way of determining its legitimacy at this moment, but it sure seems like Comex (he of the iPad "Spirit" jailbreak) has outdone himself this time, and hey, where there's smoke, there's fire, right? See Strongbad answer emails on iOS, right after the break.
http://engadget.com/2010/07/04/flash...tryside-video/

If this is for real, then it would make me want an iPad a bi more.

Although looking at that one game, how would you control it?

Well sure html5 is supposed to be better, but alot of stuff is still using flash.

Until the switch happens, I'd like to at least have the option of having flash instead of just no flash.

So, my work bought us each one of these things for a 'bonus'. It is pretty cool, but I am struggling a bit with being 'in love' with it. I just can't find a practical use for it.

If you want to get frash on your iPad.

How-to: Install Flash on your jailbroken iPad (for real)

We just saw Flash 10.1 ported to the iPad demonstrated in video form, and now you can get in on the action too, as long as your iPad is jailbroken. It's called Frash, and while the plugin is still pretty early and doesn't do video playback yet, you can definitely play games and other animations right now, and we're told video support is forthcoming. Okay, so let's try this out, shall we? It's not point-and-click simple, but it's not that hard, either. Full instructions after the break.

0. Make sure your iPad is jailbroken. It's pretty easy -- just run Spirit and you're done.
1. Download Frash.deb and keep it nearby.
2. Decide how you're going to get files onto your iPad. For Mac users, it's dead simple -- just install Netatalk, which will automatically pop up your iPad in the Finder's Sharing list. Windows users can try out this guide at iClarified to get OpenSSH installed and running and use WinSCP -- it's just as easy. Either way, the login is "root" and the password is "alpine." Remember, you can seriously screw things up while you're in there, so be careful!
3. Once you've got access to the iPad's filesystem, navigate to /var/root/Media as shown here:

4. Once there, open Media and create a folder called "Cydia."
5. Open the new Cydia folder and create another new folder called "AutoInstall"
6. Upload Frash to your new folder.
7. Restart your iPad a couple times.
8. You're set! Now just navigate to a page in Safari with non-video Flash content and hit the F logo to play it. Again, no video for now, but games and other simple content works. We did have a few crashes here and there, but it's early code, and things are bound to get better.

So there you have it -- Flash on the iPad (sans fluid video playback for now, of course). Try it out and let us know how it goes -- if you're having trouble, our tipster suggests using SBSettings or the respring app to restart the Springboard, but we didn't have too many problems without it. Just remember, you're doing this at your own risk, and you might well end up bricking your iPad and blowing up the universe with this stuff. If you're not feeling brave enough to muck around, here it is on video:

He's not talking about jailbreaking. He's talking about installing flash onto the iPad.

You've not been doing it enough.

I've had a couple full crashes. Winterboard has crashed quite a few times, but it's the quickest fix you can imagine.

This is for JB, not the flash. I'm encouraged. The sooner flash is usable, the sooner more people will feel the need to buy them.

if flash was readily available, they would sell TONS more of those things.

but flash being a possibility definitely wont hurt. even if you have to do the install yourself.

you have it backwards my friend. the sooner flash is dead forever, the sooner more people will feel the need to buy them.

flash is the worst fucking protocol on the internet, how is that so hard to grasp?

nevermind the fact that there is NO way for a touchscreen device to currently interact properly with flash.

laughable.

That's your opinion. For me to buy the device, it either has to support flash, or the many websites that I would visit with my kids would have to be changed over. How is that so hard to grasp?

I know which one is more likely to happen first.

Yea most if not all of the mobile version of the porn sites suck. It's all that brazzers 1 minute preview garbage.

Try spank wire. Seems to work ok for me. But they don't update fast enough.

What do the ppl that have ipads use them for???

My dad won one at a golf thing. I stole it for a week, and got bored of it after a few days. The only time I could ever see myself using it would be when traveling,...to watch movies or to surf if wifi was available. I wouldn't buy one, not for what they want for one. I'm not an "app" person though, maybe that has something to do with it. Personally, between my desktop and laptops,...I would never used it.
