So, need advice...
I currently have and love my 32GB iPad 3rd Gen Wifi. Love it and use it daily.
Now my job will be providing me a gift of a 16gb iPad Mini 4G next month. I will be working on a 2 day project where everyone involved will leave with one as a Christmas gift.
Now.... Do I Keep the Mini and Sell the 3rd gen? Or Sell the mini? Ugh.
They both obviously have pro's and con's.... I guess I'll have to play with both and figure it out myself. I was just thinking that maybe I shouldn't break the seal on the mini if I didn't have to... Don't want to lower the resale value.
1st world problems.

I'll probably get a mini to use while working and during breaks and lunch

I have a 3rd gen as well, and picked up the mini over the weekend. After a few days of using it, I'm happily keeping the mini and "donating" the 3rd gen to my gf. The size and weight, for me at least, make it a much more convenient device to use on a frequent basis. If I were you, the main thing I'd be worried about is whether the drop from 32gb of storage to 16gb is going to be an issue.
The 16GB drop in size would only affect me for large apps and/or if I want to load up a movie or two.
Right now I'm using 15GB on my 32GB model and its all just apps. I have no movies or music on it. So it's something to think about.

Used the 12w charger on my 3rd gen this morning.
1 hour of charging went from like 15% to about 40%

I love my mini, playing games on it is fun as hell. Reading books is great in bed, and surfing the web is fantastic. Best of all the battery lasts for what seems like forever. The size/weight ratio is spot on, you can hold it all day if you needed to. Only thing I still have semi regrets over is going 16gb, but so far I still have about 6gb of breathing room.

Yup, but you can buy one for $19 and use it on your 3rd gen. It will charge faster.
From my calculations with the 10W is was roughly 20% per hour.
Now with the 12W it seems like 25%/hour.

Literally been shot down (out-bidded) at least 25 times trying to get a wi-fi only 32GB 4th gen. iPad. I prefer white, but black is o.k. too. I have three promising bids coming up. My sticky price is $600 and below given that I avoid SC sales tax via Ebay.
Ebay will automatically buy my original 64GB iPad for $128. Pretty good update in terms of the tech. Otherwise soon, I will have to send in the original to get the battery replaced.
I love the droid on the phone (second best to Windows 8), but on the tablet the Nexus 10 missing something. I can't say particularly what, but the tablet is Apple's domain.

Goddamint... I bitch about it and it happens. Within 30 minutes I win 2 iPad (one white and one black) for under $600. I could have screw the seller, but I paid for both. I might sell one, or keep them both. I get dibs on the white one however.

First iPad-only newspaper 'The Daily' shutting down on December 15th
http://www.theverge.com/2012/12/3/37...-december-15th
The first iPad-only newspaper, The Daily, will cease to exist as of December 15th. As part of a major restructuring initiative at News Corp, some of The Daily's staff will be moved over to The New York Post, but it's not clear yet how many staff will make that transition. In a statement, The Daily's creator and News Corp. founder Rupert Murdoch said that "our experience was that we could not find a large enough audience quickly enough to convince us the business model was sustainable in the long-term."
This shutdown doesn't come as a major surprise — back in the summer, it was reported that The Daily was "on watch" as an option to help News Corp. cut costs. It sounds like The Daily brand will live on, however, with a new release stating the brand will be used in "other channels." Murdoch's new plan is to "take the very best of what we have learned at The Daily and apply it to all our properties." There's no word yet on whether annual subscribers will receive any partial refunds for their $39.99 annual subscriptions, but the app is still available for purchase in the iTunes Store.
Update: TPM has just obtained and published an internal memo regarding the closing The Daily — the full text is below.

To All Daily Staff,
News Corporation made a series of announcements this morning about the future of its publishing divisions. You can read the full press release attached.
Two years ago, we set out to create a revolutionary product that people would love. The Daily delivered great original reporting, excellent design, and custom interactivity to users every day. Although we have over 100,000 passionate paying subscribers, unfortunately we have not been able to build a big enough audience fast enough to make our business model work.
As part of the reorganization, News Corp will look to take the best of what we have done at The Daily and the lessons we have learned, and apply it to our other publishing properties. Some of our assets, technology and personnel, will be absorbed into the New York Post and all full-time staff will have the opportunity to take advantage of various benefits to assist with the transition away from The Daily, including three additional months of pay.
Our iPad app will cease publishing on Dec. 15 with a farewell issue. The Daily has a strong social media presence and a large, engaged community of fans and we intend to continue to engage our social following with our unique take on the news.
The Daily innovated every day. We broke some great stories. We made a publication that a lot of people love. We should be proud of what we achieved.
We'll be working diligently with staff in the coming days to review the opportunities that exist within other News Corporation companies going forward. We will have staff meetings at 11am and 6pm today to provide more detail on what to expect. Please come to one of them, depending on your shift.

Placing an order for an iPad with Best Buy right now. ![Wish](https://acurazine.com/forums/images/smilies/wish.gif)

Best Buy Sends Customers 5 iPads By Mistake, Says To Keep Them Anyway
Best Buy is playing the good guy this holiday season.
A Best Buy customer ordered an iPad and was shocked when a box filled with five of them showed up at her door.
She reached out to the Consumerist for help, and they contacted Best Buy. They told her to keep them.
" We, here at Best Buy, acknowledge that we obviously made a mistake, but in the spirit of the holidays, we encourage you to keep the additional iPads and give them to people in need – friends, family, a local school or charity," Best Buy responded.
Then, another customer wrote in who had the same experience — five iPads instead of one.
He was also told to keep them.
"I called Best Buy’s 1-800 number and the rep told me there was nothing he could really do because the system only reported one as being sent to me," the customer wrote to the Consumerist. "He told me I could try and drop them off at the Best Buy store, but I had reservations about how traceable this return would be."
"You know, case the inventory person at Best Buy ever tracked me down and wanted them back. So right now I am just keeping them in my closet until Best Buy comes knocking at my door or a reasonable amount of times goes by."
Well, happy holidays you two!

1. Have friend place order for iPad.
2. When order picker sees order come through, picker ships entire carton of iPads instead of 1 individual iPad.
3. Profit!

typically (in my experience) order pickers walk through the dc with a scanner that just directs them to a particular bin and advises them of a quantity that is needed. They pick whatever that widget is, and deliver it to another department for it to be packed and shipped. It's probably an honest mistake. I recall doing it once when I worked in an auto parts warehouse, I sent a case of 4 head units to a dealer instead of 1. The master carton wasn't labelled as a 4 pack so I just sent the whole thing.

Anyone with a Mini have a Smart Cover for it?
Reading a few reviews on Apple's website has kinda discouraged me from getting one. It seems a lot of people are having issues on how it fits, the front cover bulges in the middle, ect.
I may still get one to see for myself, looks like they have a pretty decent return policy for it.
Just thought I'd ask the community for their opinion.
Thanks!
