In 2015, Apple will begin selling 2 button wheel mice for only $30 more than their standard 1 button mouse. Apple fans will praise Job's brilliance and forward thinking and flood Internet chat sites with testimonials about how the 2nd button works better on their Mac OX12 Pentium 6 than it does on any crappy PC.

I will say price. If they can match Dell's Outrageous Deals which is all I buy now, with the option of upgrading with memory and other stuff from newegg or other site, then I will be part of the niche.

wow, what BS. on the desktop AMD has performance/watt lead by FAR over intel, its not even close. on the notebook side intel has a sligth edge comparing the pentium-m to amd's turion64. so if they REALLY cared about performance/watt they'd have AMD desktops and Intel notebooks

I wonder how apple's benchmark page is going to explain performance now

i'll need to see some of these technologies up close before I make any judgements...

Seems like quite a bt of smoke and mirrors to think that Mathematica made the port with 20 lines of code changed...

you can upgrade your memory for whatever you want.

apples hardware otherwise is superior to dell, so you should expect to pay more for that alone not even mentioning the superior OS that will be on your box.

correct, this is what im talking about, too.

just seemed like apple is open the flood gates. I feel like this could potentially kill the stability of the OS....you know open it up to the same spyware and virus' that PCs deal with right now.

It all makes me nervous really.

Unless my thinking is totally ass backwards, and im just not getting it.

And apple will still remain very much in house with its computers.

It just sounds like...pretty soon youll be able to build a custom apple out of parts you can buy at compusa...much like you can with a PC.

i dont think it will kill the stability of the OS. but it could potentially destroy the relationship that alot of developers have with apple...

however... they'll be back once they go to windows and visual studio... haahah

huh???

Spyware and virii are Windowz dependent... The only way you'll know it's a Intel brain is if you go snooping around and check to see the hardware... Everyday use will be no different.

With that, I'm still not sure how I feel about all of this.

they did make it seem that way... but i think thats just for continued buzz factor (theyve got a year to kill now)

apple will remain in control of the hardware, and osx will only be able to run on their hardware.

apple doesnt make a killing of OS sales and licensing like Microsoft does... they need their hardware sales.

They are obviously partnered with intel, no biggie. So is microsoft.

You have to expect them to say things like this...

That's just it... Where are they going to go? Visual Studio is a train wreck... ...

If the realtime binary translator works as stated, impact could be lessened. However, I was told a bunch of people sitting in the keynote got up and actually walked out during... lol

I am not arguing about the quality.

Dell PCs work fine for what I need to do with them. The OS might be much better than Windows, cant argue that either, but I dont need OS X for my purposes.

IMO there are 2 types of MAC customers. The one that really maximizes and uses their features, and the one that likes the fancy (or alternative) stuff.

I bet that the second type of customers do not care about about what kind of processor does it have.

I hope so. Its one of the things ive really come to like about apple.

But I wonder if going intel will make apple more applicable to the pc gaming world

is this false though?

i dont pay too close attention to the intel vs amd wars... so i dunno...

but...

seeing what others r saying right now that claims seems to prove true... performance per watt.

amd has a performance edge on intel all admit... but per watt?
