For anyone who's in the market for a laptop

On Wednesday, Dell will offer $750 Inspiron laptops when you spend $1499, so basically half off. I did this the last time it was offered, in November.

You know this for a fact? I just ordered an Inspiron 700m yesterday. Came to $1550 - $500 coupon for $1050.

If I were to cancel this order and resubmit on Wednesday, it would be $250 cheaper?

According to Techbargains, the coupon will be offered Wednesday at 6 a.m. ET. I did the same thing back in November -- ordered it with the smaller coupon, and then saw the $750 off coupon. I reordered it, and refused to take the delivery of the first one since it had already shipped.

I'd take the Sony over the Dell if they were equal prices, or maybe I'd pay a little more for the Sony, but no way in hell would I pay double.

That VAIO S360 is pretty nice. I've got a S150, the first S series to come out, for 2100 with a 3 yr best buy warranty. Worth every penny. I was in the market for that Dell 700m too, but was turned away because I was anticipating the new X-Brite technology, and also VAIO's have come through for me with my two previous computers.

Either way with a Dell or VAIO you would not have gone wrong, but I like the VAIO more because of it's sleek look and the quality.

I wish I knew about these deals back in the day. I bought a Asus S5n and although its crazy tiny, the size of a 1 subject notebook 1.85lbs, it looks like the Dell would have had more power. Plus it was $1300 when I got it and thought I was getting a deal.

Not where I am sitting. The one for $1760 comes close..

Sony / Dell
Processor = 1.7 GHZ / 1.6 GHZ - +1 Sony
Memory = 512 MB / 512 MB - Tie
HD = 80 GB / 60 GB +1 - Sony
Burner = Non DVD / DVD +1 - Dell
NIC = Interal G / Internal G - Tie
Display = X-Brite / Non-X Brite +1 - Sony
Weight = 4.2 lbs / 4.1 lbs - Tie (yes, I know)

So why is the more expensive Dell better???

But didnt the OP say that the price would be reduced by half on wednesday. So in that case, the dell would be around 900, which is much less than 1600.

If it's true. Also, factor in shipping from Dell. Im not saying that the Dell is a bad deal, the config is not as good aas the Sony.

coupon is good, and free shipping.

I'm not knocking your computer, I'd take it over the Dell for around the same price. I'm buying this Dell to replace my old Dell notebook that is crapping out on me. Just saying the price on the Dell gives it + 50 in my book.

and from what I've read the Dell "truelife" widescreen on the 700m is comparable to the XBrite. Someone on here said its the same exact screen, haven't confirmed that.

$882 shipped.

Well, hold on... I am looking at the coupon info (below) and it doesn't really say you can use it for any Inspiron.

HOT! DellHome - $750 off $1499+ Inspiron Coupon Coming TOMORROW! (Posted by: Apex)
Folks, it`s coming back! Starting tomorrow morning at 8am CST (that`s 6am PST), Dell Home will have a $750 off a $1499+ Inspiron laptop coupon. It will be limited to only 10,000 uses! $1499 or more ON an Inspiron laptop. then you get 750 off that computer.

you can't buy three 20" screens and then get $750 off an 800 dollar computer.

Thanks for the heads up. Now do you have to sign up for their at home service or anything else like that? Or is this just a free and clear coupon?

Thanks again TLover,

Troy

$750 off $1499+ Inspiron

Since it doesn't specify any particular model of Inspiron, I'm assuming that means I can use it for the 700m. I better be able to...
