Been running it on my desktop at work since beta3. Basically is a mix of 2k Server and XP. RC2 seems to be pretty stable but I had hardware issues when I had it on my laptop and went back to Win2k.

i heard alot of performance gains, im thinking of putting 03 server on my desktop to replace win2k professional

win2k server just takes too damn long to boot up even w/ all the services turned off.

Yea, I have been using it at work, I will say one thing the MS cluster installation and configuation is much easier than 2K. I have set up a 4 way cluster in about the time it used to take me to do a 2 way cluster with 2K. And it is also alot frendlier with the high end devices that I use in the office.

Dell 8 processor machines, Unisys 32 processor machine.

But for general laptop and desktop use, it is not needed. Stick with 2K for now, at least until SP1 comes out for 2003.

I'm a MS beta tester and have been running it since the days when it was still called "whistler" It's a big improvement over win2k. Definatly faster. I have it running in almost any configuration possible. I even installed Exchange 2003 on it and it still is very stable.

As for running it as a desktop...I would...but wait till the final release. There is a way to make it run as XP. When I say that I mean it will do all the themes and hardware acceleration. You just have to turn all the features on...they are off by default. This OS is far superior to XP.

I had the beta3 version, but I never installed it. However, I will be attending the Win 2k3 server launch event that will be held in DC on April 24, hopefully I will get a good look at it then...
