Anyone own a smartwatch?
Have there been any updates on this?

It makes so much sense for me to have a modular smartwatch. Since watches are not subsidized, I feel a little silly to shell out as much for a smartwatch as I do for a phone.
edit: they seem to be going for a Kickstarter sometime this year, with release date by the end of the year? Dug that up from an old article.

I have two 'find my watch/phone' apps:
Google play: Wear Pebble Finder by Joseph O. De Guzman
I use this one to locate my phone if I can't find it - you can remotely ring/vibrate your phone.
The 'modern minimal' watchface - this one vibrates the pebble if it disconnects from the phone. (which almost always means I forgot my phone)

As alluded to in the watch thread, I picked up a 360. Tried out Facer, then deleted that and went with WatchMaker. Some days battery is absolutely terrible (24%/hour), some days it's pretty good.

Using watchmaker faces I put the watch on my wrist at about 6am and when I get home at 6pm I still have 40-50% battery left. Only thing I have disabled from showing up on my watch is Google Maps cause it will kill your battery in an hour.
I began taking out the small things I didnt like for larger improvements.
For example. I posted my "panerai" face a while back. I dont like second hands as the diming of the screen acts weird and sometimes pauses it then it skips ahead when the screen activates again.
I replace most second hands with a battery indicator. Meaning at 12:01 the watch has full battery. At 6:00 its at 50% charge. Quick easy way to glimpse the battery life and get rid of the second counter in one move.
I also enjoy adding date windows to nearly all the faces.
Sorry for the quick shitty image but it gets the point across.

That face started as a black seal panerai face. Originally it was made so during the day the face looked like that but at night in the PM hours the color changed to a glowing green verse the pale cream.
I disliked how it changed so I made the cream color stay at all times.
I added the small date next to the 3. The second hand at the 9 now shows the battery life. I have that one set to my phones battery so it is showing 29% charge in this shot.
I was thinking about changing the face color so that instead of turning green at night it starts to fade to red as the watch battery does. So maybe at like 25% battery instead of cream the numbers will be a redish cream.

I could also simplify the second hand to allow for two hand on that subdial then make one hand the phone life and the other the watch life. hmmmm

Get yourself a watch kit - couple of pin setters and a small hammer for a few bucks and do it yourself.
$130 is a great price, even for a first gen.
Speaking of which, Google just updated their clock app. You can turn your alarm off or snooze it from the watch now.

Man I normally would DIY but I need to make sure I like it before 14 days. I finally got the software figured out. Had to install older Android Wear software on my phone to be able to update the watch. Then after updating the watch, update Android wear. PITA
Getting ready to return my 360. Whatsapp kills the battery so I turned that off. Fine battery lasts longer. Use the stopwatch feature at the gym over a course of an hour and a half and battery drained by like 30%. Manageable since I work out 2-4x a week. Before bed put it on the charger for the night. Battery was like 50% but needed a full charge for a long day today. Watch fully charged works fine in the car. I come in to work and the damn thing doesn't turn on and my charger is at home. Going to drop it on the cradle at the ATT store to see if it turns it on. Google search says try holding power for 25 seconds and then pressing the button again. Nope. Press power rapidly. Nope.
Welp I think I'm about to get rid of this. The software is fine. The strap end has broken off some so the watch keeps coming off by the face. The little metal bar in the strap keeps sliding out. The back of the face can kind of open where it can slide out. I used this all day at work (office) and at times at the gym except when I was doing deadlifts. It was a convenient little stopwatch and the notifications were helpful but I don't think I'll upgrade since the 1st year is discontinued. I guess I'll try to warranty claim before the year is up.
Mines working great still. LG Watch R. I replaced the first leather strap only a month in but that one has lasted since then. I wear it outside of work. At work i still wear not smary watches. Typically the battery powered ones. I wear my mechanical ones to dinners, parties, etc etc.
I have found if i dont wear it for a few days itll lag and disconnect. Reconnecting is always a headache but once it does it works great until I go 3 days without using it again.

I guess one day I may get a phone that wont support android wear anymore so until then..
