Anyone get delayed text messages?

I've had Verizon for quite a while but the past few months, from certain people on sprint and cingular networks they receive my texts, but their texts back can be anywhere from 5 min to 6 hours delayed. This is a very bad problem, I've had 3 different phones and its definitely the verizon network. I live in Fl. anyone else with these issues?

I never had an issue when I had Sprint for 5-6 years but I recently switched to AT&T and had this happen numerous times already and its only been a month... it's extremely annoying.

btw this is in the wrong section (goes in mobile phones section)

AT&T? I had this problem for about 2 months!! For long stretches at a time, I couldn't receive texts or calls when I was in my neighborhood. I could make calls and send texts just fine but not receive them. As soon as I left the neighborhood, my missed calls/texts would come flooding into the phone. The first time this happened, I got a new phone thinking that was it. New sim card, resetting the phone, warranty replacement phone and about a dozen calls to AT&T after almost two months FINALLY got the issue corrected. (I hope ) The problem is with their network but they won't admit it and from what I can tell, it seems to affect mostly Sony Ericcson phones. My old phone and current phone is Sony Ericcson. A friend that lives in my neighborhood was having the exact same issues with her phone.

You have to call repeatedly and make them work on the issue. And every time you call, make sure they read up on your complaint. Every time you call, they have to log all the info. Otherwise, they'll make you go through the same hoops over and over every time you call. They'll tell you to turn your phone off then on, make sure you have good signal strength, periodically turn your phone off so it can update itself, they'll force updates to your phone (and it still won't work), and so on. You have to stay persistent so they solve the problem. If this sounds like your problem, they can refer to my complaint log. Should be VERY LONG but informative.

Yup. I've got Sprint and I get texts late and the one I send get received by people late.

My boss sends us text all the time, and the secretary always gets them before me (she has US Cellular). Sometimes its 10 seconds, but sometimes its a few minutes or hours.

Same problem. I have Verizon, texts from AT&T are delayed just as you've described. It's been this way for me for a couple weeks. And this problem seems to happen every few months, but usually starts working correctly after a couple of weeks.

I actually just learned about the #228 a couple months ago. My girl and I bought our phones through her company online so never got the explanation or instructions about this #228 thing. I tried it once but it didnt seem to do anything.

I think I lack in motivation and persistence. Maybe if I get bored one of these days...

Try to update the PRL. dial *22899 send. If that does not help there is something not provisioned correctly in the system and tech support can look into the switch and see what the problem is and why the txt msgs are getting stuck. 1-800-922-0204 option 3

I'm on Verizon as well... and I noticed this yesterday... the delays were a lot more than 5 minutes tho...

I was meeting up with a friend of mine to exchange something at a parking lot... he was running late and texted me what intersection he was at, but I didn't get the text til well after we had parted ways... like 20+ minutes later

btw, he's on AT&T

My roommate and I were just talking about this. We're both on Verizon and both have HTC Smartphones and get delayed text messages from people on other networks... It's definitely a Verizon issue.

I am on Verizon and I once sent out a text on a Friday evening, to several people on different networks. The only one that got delayed was the one to another Verizon phone... He got it on Monday morning!

I have AT&T. Not only do I get delayed texts, sometimes I get delayed voicemails/missed calls too. Its only worked in my favor a few times, sadly, when a manager calls me to come in at 9am.... I just show them my phone, which doesn't say there were any missed calls.

I don't get delayed texts. If I text my buddy who has Sprint (I have AT&T) and he replies to me I get a message that looks like this: &@?my message here&@?his message here
I'm sure if it his phone or my phone that causes this, but it's annoying as shit.

Missed calls and VM's are a different story. I've always thought that had to do with my phone

I always get that if a girl with Nextel sends me a text. Why anybody uses Nextel I'll never know.

Yeah, if I have trouble it's usually if someone sends a 2-page text. The 2nd page won't send sometimes, which is pretty damn annoying.
