Question about Windows XP SP3

Anyone (preferably those who've updated to SP3) have any issues with this service pack? Is the install pretty much straight forward or were there a bunch things you had to fix after the install? I don't have the time to try and back up my entire PC and don't have an external drive to do it with anyhow. Is SP3 even worth the hassle? Is it more secure or something? I'm having no issues at all with SP2 installed so I'm just not sure about this last major update before Microsoft stops supporting XP. Any help is appreciated thanks!

I haven't had any problems with using SP3 but also there isn't much reason to upgrade to SP3 unless your network supports network access protection and other features. It kindof only benefits businesses that have upgraded to Server 2008 but I think there are a couple performance enhancements also. There's no real reason to upgrade but there's also no reason not too but I guess if it ain't broke don't fix it?

Thanks! It certaintly ain't broke, but I keep automatic updates on with the option to actually install the updates on my end. I'm just getting sick of microsoft telling me that I need to update to SP3 everyday.

I love it, I'm running Win XP Pro SP3 Corporate...no problems and it is pretty damn stable. I'll take this over Vista any day.

200+ PC's so far updated. Haven't had much of a problem. Had a few AD policy issues & had to reinstall IE7 on a few more for some reason, but that's been it.

We're having a printing problem on SP3 machines at work and have found references to other people having similar issues. It's a very specific problem though (one particular model of HP LaserJet shared via 2003 Server and only when it's the default printer) so I still wouldn't have any concerns about SP3.

1 problem!!

If you are used to having an address bar at the bottom of your taskbar, like myself, then you'll need to do a little tweak after upgrading to SP3. Microsoft had to remove the address bar due to a court order, but if you do a google search about it there will be several sites to show you the work around.

x2

No problems with any work computers I've upgraded. Probably won't bother installing it on my personal laptop though

my laptp got an access denied and then i lost all network connections...seems to a common problem with norton with false registry keys and SP3....to say the least my laptop is still running SP2.

other computers in the office are good, except one that has office 07 on it. after installation office 7 did not work...SP3 has been a headache for me.

After one of my friends installed it, his computer would not boot. It would keep crashing during startup.

I told him to boot to Safe Mode and uninstall SP3 through the Add/Remove Programs and now his computer runs fine.
