hardware firewall is all either of you need.

if you must have a software firewall. shit. i guess ZoneAlarm or an IDS like BlackICE if your really paranoid.

Otherwise XP's built in firewall will suffice when backed up by nat protection on a router.

How do you initiate the XP firewall ?

What about anti-virus ? I think that is what's hogging the most..

I'll have to experiment... I like Norton for it's reliabilty but man it's always stealing my memory and slows my system down.

How do I activate the XP firewall?

The nice thing about Norton firewall is the built in pop-up blocker. I guess I'll rid of that and go with the Google toolbar..

I've been experimenting between both and the Norton seems to be doing better then the Google toolbar.

I have found that McAfee Firewall works very well and doesn't let any pop-ups through.
