Man I'm very impressed with XDA devs! They just improved the Super AMOLED on the Galaxy S. Hardcore made some changes to Voodoo's code and now the text on my phone is amazingly sharp and clear without the Pentile Matrix look! It looks very HiRes to the point that when I'm zoomed out on the browser, I can actually read the text clearly now instead of it being fuzzy because of the Pentile Matrix.

I'm really enjoying the mods that the devs made to this phone and I'm pretty happy with it to the point that I'm no longer flashing new ROMs every other day and actually using the phone as a phone. lol. With the new Voodoo sound and color/text changes, this phone is perfectly how I wanted it to be when I first purchased it. Voodoo sound is amazing as well with the FM radio and line out jack pumping out some crazy bass and clarity that I never thought would be possible from a phone. I rarely use my iPod now as I just stream from Pandora and it sounds excellent. Now I just wait for a proper Gingerbread or Honeycomb build. :wish:

Here's a link to the kernel but this will only work for the international Galaxy S:

http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=822756

I believe someone ports his kernels for the other devices as well. Speedmod kernel is what its called. You guys should definitely check it out if you're running a rooted.

Is anyone getting the Inspire 4G? Its supposed to come out on February 13th for $99 on contract. Not a bad price considering it'll be the first phone running the new Sense UI. It doesn't have HDMI out or a FFC but at that price its actually an excellent phone.

http://img600.imageshack.us/img600/1363/inspire4g1.jpg

If you're been waiting to get your HTC Sense skin on an AT&T phone that's got more oomph than the Aria, AT&T has announced that they're making the Inspire 4G available on February 13th for $99 on a 2-year contract.

It'll run Android 2.2 under that shiny Sense UI, offer mobile hotspot, a 8-megapixel camera, that huge 4.3 inch screen we've come to know and love on HTC devices, feature an aluminum unibody design, and finally get those EVO 4G owners to respect and admire you. We know that last bit is what you're really worried about - so who's planning on picking one of these bad boys up on the 13th? AT&T's Press Release is after the break.

AT&T* will begin selling the HTC Inspire™ 4G on Feb. 13.

The first 4G mobile phone offered by AT&T, the HTC Inspire 4G is the first to run the Android 2.2 platform and AT&T Mobile Hotspot application.

The 4.3-inch super LCD display on the HTC Inspire 4G will be the largest in the AT&T portfolio, and the first to offer the next-generation HTC Sense experience.

HTC Inspire 4G will cost $99.99 after a two-year agreement beginning Feb. 13 in company owned retail stores and online at http://www.wireless.att.com/.

AT&T is the leader in smartphones and expects to widen that lead in 2011. In January, AT&T committed to an industry-leading Android portfolio in the U.S. in 2011 and said it plans to offer two 4G smartphones in the first quarter. The HTC Inspire 4G is the first of more than 20 4G devices AT&T plans to deliver in 2011. AT&T has completed the deployment of HSPA+ to virtually 100 percent of its mobile broadband network, which enables 4G speeds when combined with Ethernet or fiber backhaul.

HTC Inspire™ 4G

The HTC Inspire™4G will be the first 4G smartphone in AT&T stores and will have the largest screen of any AT&T smartphone, with a 4.3-inch super LCD display, and will offer an 8-megapixel camera with HD video recording. Running on the Android 2.2 platform, the HTC Inspire 4G will be the first smartphone in the U.S. to feature the next-generation HTC Sense™ experience with cloud services. The HTC Inspire 4G will also be the first to introduce AT&T Mobile Hotspot service built into the smartphone, allowing users to connect additional Wi-Fi-enabled devices.

Exclusively available to AT&T customers for $99.99 after a two-year agreement, the HTC Inspire 4G will include a 1 GHz processor, Dolby® Mobile and SRS WOW HD sound, and a premium, aluminum unibody design. HTC Inspire 4G comes preloaded with a Blockbuster and eReader application to keep users entertained on the go. For more information, visit www.att.com/inspire4G.

With the next-generation of HTC Sense, the HTC Inspire 4G offers even more ways to stay connected, including FriendStream™, which delivers Facebook, Twitter and Flickr updates in a consolidated view. The HTC Inspire 4G also offers customers the ability to pinpoint the location of a lost phone on a map and send a command to make the phone sound an alert – even while on “silent” mode – through the htcsense.com website. If needed, owners can also remotely wipe all of the phone’s data with a single command in addition to forwarding calls and text messages to a different number.

^THat's a great price for a pretty good phone. I'd consider it but when my contract expires in June, I'm thinking new iPhone, Atrix, or something else holy cow. PS phone might be nice and runs honeycomb, but I don't really see myself buying games to play on it.

sho_nuff1997 02-02-2011 08:10 AM

Great price. too bad it's AT&T.

Ipad has met its match.

Motorolla xoom is kick ass
Let me rephrase.
Honeycomb is kick ass

They didnt mention anything about when it will arrive on phones!!!!

market.android.com sign in is working now! Installing apps is fast! No more need for AppBrain. This is how installing apps should be!

I'm interested in that Google Body. Would be really useful for school and at hospital/clinic settings explaining medically related issues to patients/students. I know during our anatomy lab dissections it would've been very helpful. lol.

That probably won't be mentioned until Google I/O in May considering Honeycomb is still not finalized as they said today. They're still writing code up to the retail release of the Xoom. And supposedly, Ice Cream is supposed to make its debut at Google I/O as well but won't be released until the end of the year.

I was hoping they would allow the Music streaming that they mentioned in Google I/O last year but they may be saving that for May as well or the music companies are holding them back. The word is that the software is ready to go its just a matter of getting the licensing down. From last year's Google I/O regarding the updated market and Google streaming:

With this new market web interface it seems it will be a breeze to re-install all my apps on my replacement device.

I agree about that google body. Looks quite awesome!

Yeah... that is really :pimp:

Right at the Star Trek level of medicine... I would love to see it set up to show pathology in specific areas with actual photos or scans that could be used as pop ups... I am sure someone is doing that right now... ...as well as integration of the actual information from that patients medical and imaging history... I have all kinds of ideas... wish I knew a medical / computer programmer who could write the programs for me...

Really liking the Xoom the more I see/read about it. Can't wait to go see one at the store.

civicdrivr 02-02-2011 06:03 PM

I love how Motorola is constantly going after Apple in a not so subtle way.

speedemon90 02-02-2011 06:53 PM

I'll have to wait till may!

Anyway, whats Ice cream? 3.1? Are they already working on that! Finish honeycomb first!!

edit: market.android.com is awesome. I got pulse (great app btw) and clicked install. By the time i got to my phone which was seconds after. It was half way done downloading. :toocool:

Its just a little ironic considering that Motorola devices have the locked bootloaders. lol. Then again, you can still run some certain custom ROMs on it. Either way, the Xoom looks very promising.

Ice Cream Sandwich is the next Android version. Google will probably show some stuff related to it in May at I/O like they usually do.

HC is so amazing. I wonder if there are any iOS users who really think that the iPad OS is nicer and more functional than HC.

Probably most of them.

At least thats all I hear when they speak

I think Honeycomb looks interesting, but my gut feeling is that Google has added unnecessary complication to the OS to compensate for a lack of useful software.

My position is that the success of a mobile OS is how well it gets out of the way and allows me to focus on what I am working on.

For those who like bells and whistles and lots of widgets, I am glad they have something like Honeycomb.

To those that are into Android, I am sure they will like it, but to me it just looks completely unpolished and amateurish.

Same here. The event seemed like it was thrown together at the last minute, but I honestly had it playing in the background and didnt pay much attention to it, other then the big things.

sho_nuff1997 02-02-2011 11:06 PM

Ya, I was going back and forth between it and other things, but I did see the part where CeeLo was not available and the dude was frantically checking for him. The 3D graphics demo was slightly awkward as well.

To somebody that is already an Android user and fan, that is not a big deal. But, to somebody considering making the switch to android....seeing an ate up presentation may steer them away.

civicdrivr 02-02-2011 11:09 PM

Yep. I actually laughed when CeeLo wasnt available.

I didnt watch the even, but I read the live blog on engadget. And I've also read the live blog on engadget from apple's events. And the way apple presents their events is just better. I've even seen some of Microsofts. I think apple is just great at presenting things. Their marketing schemes is one of the best in the industry.

GIBSON6594 02-03-2011 07:50 AM

For those saying the presentation was poor, keep in mind this was just an update. This was not a Keynote or announcement.

Google has the I/O in May, which should be very well done. Check last years if you don't know what I am talking about.

Yea, I'll take more functionality and ability, thanks.

And he says it looks "unpolished and amateurish," but I think it blows iOS out of the water visually.
