You have good taste. My 2013 Moto X is black/royal blue too

Am I paranoid in being a bit worried about fast chargers? I thought those were bad for battery longevity. Maybe I'm misinformed.

Nope. First phone I will be doing this with, but it feels too good to cover up. With the two-year protection and pretty low deductible, I'm going to roll the dice.

That was something I wondered about as well. I don't know what the long-term consequences would be. I think I'll still be buying one though, but only for those specific situations where I need a bunch of juice. Otherwise, hopefully it will meet my needs where I will just regularly charge overnight.

I think the Note 4 has that fast charge feature as well even though it's not USB 3.0 on the phone. Maybe it's just a ploy to kill our batteries in a year instead of 2 so that we buy new phones faster.

I can't choose Moto X, G3 or Note 4. I love the Note 4 the most but I'm afraid it may too big to carry around.

Those with Notes, clip? back pocket? How do yo do it?

That was a 100Kg ass which would be pretty typical of the American fat ass at 220 lbs

Note 2 front pocket even with jeans. I just bought some straight leg jeans that were a little tight on my thighs but fit my waist fine and just did a concert no problem with it in my front pocket.

Been having an annoying issue with group texts in Hangouts. When I send an MMS, this message will pop up:

Sender Unknown
Message Not Found

Seems like the only choice I have is to wait for an update? Using the stock messaging app for now.

Front pants pocket, normally jeans or slacks.
If you have any doubts about size, just make a cardboard mockup.
Don't worry about the thickness, it's length /width that determine pocketability

+1... front pocket, normal jeans... and if I DO use a case, it's a thin one, I have thicker cases like the Otterbox, but I only use it when I'm going to be working out or something like that... I'm starting to NOT use ANY case because the phone looks soooo nice w/o one (Note 3)

I have two batteries and my Note 2. Mind you one of them I hadn't used for months and it still had 20% charge left when I inserted it. Now it won't fully charge to 100% in my phone overnight (about 6 hours). I think the battery is fine but Touchwiz occasionally crashes upon restart. I refuse to restore because it runs fine and there's not much going on in the background. I'll have to play with the settings and tough it out till March.

Textra is the best. Super fast and not a RAM hog like Messages or Go SMS. Google Now has a pretty good sports widget. I only really use music app widgets and the calendar widget that takes up a page. Easily the calendar one is my most used. If you want to discuss in the app thread just bump it. Some of us subscribe to it.

Unfortunately textra doesn't play nice with it.
Does anyone have a similar solution?

Looks like Nokia Here is starting to roll out to Samsungs via the Samsung App store. I checked and it seems per the reviews that only the S5 can get it but it's a slow rollout. I will consider since Maps lately doesn't let me zoom in for shit. Is it just me or did they fuck up the zooming level?

Nokia's Here app comes to Android but only for Samsung devices - CNET

You should rethink this part. Maps is a software from Google. The S5 hardware is manufactured by Samsung. Samsung has nothing to do with Google Maps.

No I was saying they were rolling out the software first to Samsung for Here. The S5 so far has it and others will soon get it.

As for Maps, look at the screenshot. I can't zoom more. Some of the streets aren't labeled. When I'm looking for a house the dot is too far out to pinpoint. I recall it allowing me to zoom more. Is there a setting or something that I can fix?

EDIT: I figured it out. I had it on Terrain. When you switch to the other views you can zoom more. The weird thing is the bottom left settings button is barely on my screen.

You could try uninstalling the app and download it again in the Play Store.

EDIT: There you go

I think they took the Android L style in their latest update. It used to be Green Lantern green but now they're rocking what is that turquoise? And don't forget the emoji plugins

Why must Verizon always mess with a good thing. The Z3 looks so good. The Z3v not so much.

Two random questions: What's your favorite launcher? And if I root and flash ROM, I lose warranty, correct?

Google Launcher (the one found in the playstore)

And as for rooting yes if you make the counter in the bootloader go up. FOrgot what its called. Some phones have ways to root without messing with the counter. Then you won't lose your warranty, just make sure to unroot before sending it in.

Slightly OT -
I just found out that all of the 'My places'/'My Maps' stuff that was removed from the google maps app last year is now availiable via a separate google app, called 'My Maps'.

I find my maps very very useful for trip planning. Make a map, tag/save points of interest, etc, and you have an easy list for examing/navigating to/etc. Not to mention you can share it with other people on the trip, etc.

I tried Google Launcher when it first came out. As a former Nexus user, I really like the stock launcher. However, the Google launcher makes the app icons huge, which I can't stand. I think the large icons work on a tablet, but it doesn't on a phone. Hopefully Google will revise the launcher to make the icons smaller in the future. Otherwise, I'm sticking with Sense, which is near stock.

If Touchwiz is giving problems like crashing and maybe battery use, outside of rooting/ROM is a launcher app just going to change the "look" or is it a way to at least partially circumvent Touchwiz?

No, it's still baked into the entire ROM. A launcher just covers up the majority of the user experience.

I will say that once I put a non-TW ROM on my S3, I found the experience to be worse than TW. YMMV.

That's what I figured, launcher is just theme, so in result you are just putting even more strain the processor and battery? What's the point- just for a cleaner looking UI?

Hmm. Thanks for the heads up. Woke up today and had lost my contacts. Luckily everything was backed up to my Google contacts so I had to re-sync which took seconds. However, any numbers that I saved to the Device instead of Google, I had to re-enter into my contacts. I'm thinking TW is crapping out.

Exactly my sentiments and why I've ignored launchers
