I tried it out a long time ago, but I felt that it could be a battery drainer so I stopped it. I never looked if it actually did that or not.

Here's a neat app
https://play.google.com/store/apps/d...roid.edge.free
I haven't tried it yet, but it may solve the problem for me not using multitasking on my GS3.
Its weird, on my Nexus 7 I'm always using the multitasking feature, but not on the GS3. I guess a dedicated button makes that much of a difference. Gonna see if this app solves my issue with the gs3

I think the app I am most happy to have is PDANet/FoxFi.
The few times I needed internet on my N7 (or the GF needs it on her iphone, etc) I fire it up on the RazrM and 60 seconds later my cell is a hotspot.
No fees to Verizon for the privilege of using tethering, which the courts ruled had to be free.

Need an app recommendation...
on stock launcher for Moto RazrM (4.1.2) there is a "Favorite Contacts" widget that puts a 4x1 widget on a screen with any four contacts I want. When I swipe downward on the widget, it opens a grid of 12 that are a combination of my choice AND most often used. I love this widget.
Screenshot from Motoroloa: https://motorola-global-portal.custh...quick-contacts
Unfortunately, using the Apex launcher, which I also love, the widget shows me the four contacts in the actual widget, but does not open on swipe to reveal the others. I am left to scroll through hundreds of names in the normal contacts app, which sucks.
Also, I am NOT looking to replace the dialer, etc...
Just looking for a good, customizable "Favorite Contacts" app. Any ideas?

Apex folks responded to my email and said the stock widget wont work in Apex. No alternative suggested.

Holy Hell...
android Facebook app needed to update and I took a moment to read the NEW permissions it was asking for:
Are they for real? This is enough for me to uninstall this app and use the website.

Limelight Game Streaming
Time to bring this thread back from the dead with a pretty awesome app for those who have an NVIDIA Geforce 600/700 GPU card. Best of all its free:
https://play.google.com/store/apps/d...=com.limelight
http://forum.xda-developers.com/show....php?t=2505510
https://github.com/limelight-stream/limelight-android
So if you still haven't figured it out, it allows any Android device to stream PC games from Steam if you have an NVIDIA Geforce 600/700 GPU just like the NVIDIA Shield without the need of buying an NVIDIA shield. You can then use a PS3/Xbox controller and connect it to your Android device so you can fully go wireless. The app is open source if you want to contribute you can do so. All requirements and troubleshooting info are in the thread.
Currently don't have an NVIDIA card to try this out but I'm thinking of picking one up now just to do this.

any way on the google play web site to see what apps are currently installed on a specific device?
I have multiple devices and want to see only the apps installed on my phone (Probably going to do a factory reset).

Wanted to plug a new app I found I really like: AppWereRabbit.
It makes backups of apps whenever you pull down a new update. This means if you don't like the current version (breaks on your phone, they took out features, etc), you can revert back to the previous one.
Takes a lot of worry out of updating apps.

Me too. I don't think I've ever had an update that breaks the app.

It doesn't happen a lot but it really sucks when it does.
Google maps removed mobile access to 'My Maps' with the recent versions. It's still not back, and I'm very not happy about that. I use it for trip planning.
Facebook had a nice run where the app would crash/hang if a gallery had too many pics.
After my last update, Vonage is very flaky - when you make a call, the app sometimes crashes, and the call still goes through. You hear them but they can't hear you. Seems to only happen on 3g.
Read reviews of apps on google play and you'll see plenty of 'worked fine until last update' posts.

Not really sure if this is the right place to put this or in the main Android thread. Since it is not really a phone issue, however it's not even really an Android issue as it happens on my iPad as well.
CRAZY pop ups on certain websites (this being one of them). To the point where I can't even browse without it redirecting me, opening another window. Or in the case of iOS, opening the app store. Most other websites work just fine, but others I can't even view on a mobile device anymore.
I can't be the only one that is getting this. What are y'all doing to make the insanity stop?

No pop up for me and I just noticed we have a mobile site now! Sweet!
Swervin try deleting all the data/cache in the chrome app. Even try reinstalling it. See if that fixes the issue.

Found a pretty cool app from google, Gesture Search:
https://play.google.com/store/apps/d...research&hl=en
Looking for a contact, telephone number, app, reminder, etc?
Open the Gesture app and then draw the first letter of what you are looking for on the screen. If needed, then draw the second letter, etc... I rarely need to go beyond the first letter and BAM, there is what I am looking for.
I use it mostly for contact searches, and I wish it would pull calendar info and texts, but I like it more and more. Makes finding contacts on my phone SUPER easy...

Here are some browsers with Adblocking built in:
AdBlock Browser for Android:

NoChromo:
[APP][4.0+] #NoChromo - A wild ad-blocking b… | Android Development and Hacking | XDA Forums
What's the difference?
Adblocker Browser is based on Firefox and NoChromo is based on Chrome. Both will adblock while you surf the web and both DON'T need root to work!

Anyone here use Tasker? I am considering buying it but I want to make sure what I want to do can actually be done first.

This PISSES ME OFF TO NO END..........
When I tell an app I don't want push notifications (looking at you, Yelp) and then after EVERY app update, it turns push notification back on. Why Google does not insist that this setting persist through an app update is beyond me...
