Another deal (i think) since you guys are deal searching.

I haven't bought any external hard drives in a while so I am not sure on where the prices typically are, but this deal seems to be pretty cheap to me. It's from best buy:

http://www.bestbuybusiness.com/bbfb/...D%3DBB10813470

Iomega 750 GB usb2/firewire external hard drive for $105 shipped with a 10% off coupon code of SURV7DAYS

True, but I do fault them for lowering inventory for those who really want one...

Kinda like last x-mas and the Wii's. People on ebay had stock piles of them and controllers; but no-one could find one in the stores. And in the end hardly anyone made any $$ off the wii's on ebay... I watched stuff never sell and prices go to shelf price...

Wonder what will happen the day ebay reports sales information to the IRS....

I'd highly doubt it. These deals get spread across numerous web sites where people just buy to resell on ebay. I think I'm going to pick one up on black friday.. nothing like sitting out in the cold with some liquor waiting on a good deal

My Wal-Mart had 50 of them, and there were only 5 people for them when they put them out at 8:00 AM. Maybe on a lunchbreak?

I just went and picked up a laptop! They didn't have them out on display just a price sticker below all the other laptops in that section, so I don't know how many they have.

My wife said there was a nice long line at the electronics counter at 8am this morning and supposedly, they had 70 of them there. The special was also on the Pittsburgh news lastnight so that may have helped add to the number of people that knew about it. If you're looking for one this afternoon, you're probably best off if you can go to a few different stores.

I went to Walmart this morning and waited in line for the HD-DVD and the laptop.

At 8am the manager came out and told us about the disclaimer that Hawaii had higher prices.

HD-DVD was $185 instead of $98, and laptop was $448 instead of $348. Screw that!

I was willing to pay $20-30 more, but HD-DVD for almost twice the price?

Why the hell didn't they just post the damn prices online instead of making everyone waste their time?!

The whole line pretty much dispersed...

For you or anyone that is interested but missed out on the hd-dvd deal (again remember, not 1080p)

The ppl at wallmart were kinda clueless this morning. My buddy and I picked up a laptop each, currently installing MS office as we speak. The HD players were sold out within 15 minutes (I didn't want one), and they had about 7-8 laptops left.

I'm actually pleasantly surprised with the laptop...i'm not a big fan of the light gray keyboard, but it works well, especially for the price. I just installed MS Office Enterprise 2007 in about 20 min. Thanks again t_in_maine for the heads up on this one...my other laptop's dying and this is a great cheap replacement.

Thanks for the link. My Circuit City doesn't have it in stock. Nor do my Best Buys.

Oh well. I don't really need it, I was just gonna buy it because of the price.

quick question, I remember when office 07 came out someone said that office 2003 files had compatibility issues. Still the case?

They were still airing the commercials yesterday; evidently whatever lasted through the weekend retained those sale prices.

So did anyone who picked these up have a chance to try them out yet?

On a side note, I also picked up the Toshiba HD-DVD player, and it's not working so great... it tends to not start up occasionally.

I've been using this laptop for 2+ weeks. It's awesome. Perfect for the web, office, photoshop (no issues), etc. Solid laptop and one of the best purchases I've made in awhile. I ALMOST but a laptop almost double a month ago. I'm glad I canceled the purchase.

I've been using my HD-DVD player and my dad's laptop. I've had no problems so far with the DVD player. Have you upgraded the firmware? Also, did you see that mail-in offer I posted a couple weeks ago? The laptop however gave me a blue screen when I tried to install the Intel driver update that came up in Windows Update. This also happened to a friend of mine who also got the same laptop. Anyone else with this issue? Other than that, it's been working fine.

The DVD player just chooses not to work sometimes, then will work fine for awhile. Not sure if we're going to return it or not.

Main-in offer for....?

My brother's G/F is a computer tech. that gets sub-contracted out by lots of companies to do house calls. She said NEVER buy a Dell. She recommends Toshiba. Either BB or CC (Circuit City I think) has a Toshiba on Black Friday for $349 or $399.

wow I had no idea what you guys were talking about. I needed to go on urbandictionary.com to see what Black Friday was. Here in Canada we don't have that.

Dell does suck, lots of motherboard problems. That's all we have at work...and guess who gets to work on them when they break

Any other cheap laptop deals? I might buy one for my little sister...

Staples has an Acer for $349 I think, too... there are a few around the under $400 mark.

Edit: My bad, it's a Compaq Presario

And this at Best Buy, but I think unless you're standing in line at Midnight, there's no chance of getting it:

Toshiba Satellite A135-S7403 Laptop with Canon PIXMA 3-in-1 Printer
SKU: 999980700050007

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Shipping: Coming Soon

Store Pickup: Not Available
Our Price:$229.00

And this regarding the "Ticket Required" fine print:

How to Shop the Friday Doorbusters Specials at Best Buy

Hoping to get in on the amazing deals at Best Buy on Friday, November 23? You'll need to get there early in the morning, way before the stores open at 5 a.m.

Here are a few things to know before you go:

Prior to opening, a line of customers will form outside the store.

Starting at 3 a.m., with the front of the line, employees will hand out tickets to customers for Doorbuster and Bonus Doorbuster products (these are the front cover and BestBuy.com limited-quantity items, excluding CDs, DVDs and video game software).

The tickets, limited to 1 ticket per customer per item, will grant you the ability to buy the Doorbuster items.

These tickets are valid for a limited time. The products requiring a ticket must be purchased, or in your hand, by 9 a.m. This is when the remaining inventory, if available, will be released to the general public.

We are unable to guarantee all customers in line will receive a ticket. See Customer Specialist for details.
