2 computers 1 printer

heres the issue. At the hotel we have to front desk computers that use one printer. well our printer started making some weird noise and our GM decided instead of even looking at it or getting it fix he'll go out and buy a new one. Which is fine, but they leave it for me to install. no big deal right its fucking printer, i can do that shit with my eyes closed, i do it all the time. well without going into boring details i spent almost my whole day trying to get this POS to work the way i need it to. heres my issue. we havd the 2 comps hooked up to the one using parallel connections. one from each comp into a 3 way hub then the hub to the printer. works mint.

however, the new printer is now a usb so i need to find a way to basically do the same thing but with usb cords. the hubs i found at staples and other stores around here are all switched. you can only use one comp at a time and have to change it on the hub each time you wanna use a different comp. thats a no go. any one know of any good hubs that are constant on all ports or another way to go about this?

note: usb connections from comps and to the printer are all USB-B and the other ends are all USB-A's.

Thanks in advance

Well, the devices are out there. belkin makes one. I'd lean towards network sharing, though. Even worst case if they're not networked at all, use a crossover cable between the two computers and use NetBEUI.

Where's the video of one computer vomiting toner on a printer and the other computer licking it up?

Have the GM return it for a printer that has a parallel port.

What I do at home is hook up the printer to computer, then share your printer with other people on the network. The only bad thing is the host computer needs to be on at all times.

We went wireless at our hotel. The GM at my place bought the HP wirless printer and I set it up to our wireless network so people print wirelessly. Expensive? YES!

Or if you have a have a network you can get a USB print server. You plug the USB port from the printer in to the USB print server and the server will put the printer on the network either wirelessly or wired depending on the model you buy. The USB print server will be on at all times so you won't have to worry about keeping a PC on at all times so you can print. I've got a Linksys USB print server lying around that I can sell you if you want?

Or maybe include IT in Consoles & Computer Gaming, or Mobiles Phones & PDAs, with appropriate forum name changes?

Because I said teh? I think 95% of people my age who use a computer understand what i'm saying.

Old people need not read it if they don't understand it.

Also, I don't recall anyone saying they think i'm a retard, but if you could just not reply to anything I say, ever again, that would be great.

I'd like to help moderate an IT forum if possible. I'm an MCP, but I've learned a lot to go higher.
