Great coach and definitely a loss to the Steelers if he does retire.

Cowher will sit out the final year of his contract, and come back with either Carolina or Cleveland. Believe it.
Cleveland?? I think he'd rather kill himself like any other normal person would.
Unless, of course, he did it just to get back in the AFC North and torment Bengals fans again.

Watch... he will coach one of those teams. (or I will be eating crow in about a year...)

Giants shoulda lost that game against Washington so GB could gotten in. Bears is freaking horrible. How do you lose to a 7-8 team ???? Chicago won't see conference championship game unless... of course they're playing against seattle........................
GB was on a 4 game winning streak, they coulda done some damage in the playoffs.

If Rex plays smartball, I think the Bears will be fine. And oh look, it's Bears weather...so, I guess Benson and Jones will be getting nice doses of running which isn't a bad thing. Last time I checked, both RBs are not bad.
Losing to GB...sure, that sucked cuz, losing to the Packers always sucks. But, I think the Bears were in cruise control about 5 (correct me on this someone) weeks ago when they clinched?

I agree that he might coach the Panthers since he has a house there and all.
But I just can't see him ever going to the Browns. Just remember how much everyone in the AFC North hates each other.

TITANS GM REESE RESIGNS
Titans General Manager Floyd Reese, the man responsible for building the team through the NFL draft and free agency, resigned this morning.
His contract was to expire in February.
"Today I informed the Titans that I will be offering my resignation, effective immediately," Reese said in a statement released by the team. "Initially, I had hopes of signing a contract extension and staying with the Titans for many more years, but it became apparent to me over the last several months that that would be difficult.
"Rather than drag out a process that would probably end up with us going our separate ways, the right thing to do is to cut ties now and let the Titans move on and me as well.
"I love Nashville and the Titans organization and have tried to do the best possible job that I could for the team and fans. I cherish the relationships I developed with everyone in the organization over the many years with the team.
"I feel good about the way I am leaving the franchise. The Titans are in the best shape that they have been in for 5 or 6 years. There is a franchise quarterback in place, who can lead the team for over a decade, they have a number of draft picks this year and are in the strongest cap position that I can remember."
Reese served the past 13 seasons as Titans Executive Vice President/GM and was one of the faces of the franchise. He leaves with the franchise record for wins by a general manager with 111.
"Floyd has been an important part of the success that this franchise has enjoyed for over 20 years and we are thankful for his years of service to this franchise," said Steve Underwood, chief operating officer for the Titans.
"This morning, Floyd offered his resignation; and after considering the limited options available to him, (Titans owner Bud Adams) accepted his resignation. We wish Floyd the best in whatever he chooses to pursue next. Our job now is to move forward and find someone that can help lead this organization to our goals."
It is currently unclear how the Titans will fill the void.
"I want to thank Floyd for his 21 years of service to this organization," Adams said in a statement issued by the team. "During his time as a coach and front office executive, our franchise experienced a number of memorable moments.
"It is hard parting ways, but I am confident that change will be good for everyone involved. This is an exciting time for our team and I am looking forward to finding that person who will continue to move us in the right direction. We know Floyd will enjoy success in his future endeavors."
Reese was responsible for assembling talent through the NFL Draft and free agency, and between 1999 and 2003 the Titans posted the NFL's best record with 56 wins over the five-year period.
After the 2004 season, the Titans were forced to release star players including cornerback Samari Rolle, receiver Derrick Mason, defensive end Kevin Carter and tackle Fred Miller as part of a salary cap purge.
The Titans followed up a 5-11 season in 2004 with a 4-12 mark in 2005, then got back to .500 this past season with an 8-8 record.
Of the 75 players Reese drafted from 1999-06, 48 percent (36 players) finished the season on the team's roster. That is the third-best percentage in the NFL behind only the Bengals and Ravens.
Last offseason Reese was responsible for the signings of safety Chris Hope, center Kevin Mawae and linebacker David Thornton, who were also key members of the 2006 team.
His 2005 and 2006 draft classes currently include a number of key contributors.
But there were also regrettable decisions.
The 2004 draft class is considered weak (five of the 13 draftees are no longer on the roster).
Tthe 2003 draft class that included cornerback Andre Woolfolk (1st round) and wide receiver Tyrone Calico (2nd round) hasn't panned out so well. Woolfolk played primarily on special teams in '06, while Calico was released before the season.
Also, only one player (defensive tackle Albert Haynesworth) remains from the 10-man draft class of 2002.
In another matter, the Titans have elected not to re-sign Director of Pro Scouting Al Smith. His contract had expired.

What source thought of Cleveland??? Speaking of Cowher, there's rumors that the Fins want to talk to him but we already have appointments with Cam Cameron, Off. coord. of the Chargers, and Bears Def. Coord., Ron Rivera.
