NFL: 2017 Off-Season News and Discussion Thread
Who's knocking off the Pats off the top? Let's discuss what's being done about it.
Falcons think this asst coach will improve their defense from the one they just fired. Mind you Quinn was calling the defensive plays most of the season

I don't get the Falcons firing defensive coaches. They lost the game because their offense couldn't put together a long enough drive for the defense to stay rested. The miscues were on the offensive side, not necessarily the defense.

The Atlanta defense wasn't exactly elite. Reading the article, it sounded like Quinn took over the play calling from the prior DC so he probably prefers pushing that responsibility to someone more qualified.

Oh same here, you need binoculars to same the game for $150. In general its crazy how much going to a game actually costs. Between the ticket, food, beer, parking, beer, more beer, youre easily at $300

I wanted to post this in the 2016 thread, but I waited too long.
The worst part about the Patriots SB win is that they called heads during the overtime coin toss and won. Tails wins every time. They must have cheated.

I was actually hoping it would be the Niners so it wouldn't be the Browns. I want nothing to do with any of the "top" QBs in the draft of Jimmy Sandwich. I wouldn't mind Tyrod Taylor as a free agent though.

Edit: At least look at the bright side, you guys no longer have Jim O'Neil running your defense, so it should instantly improve. How he ever got a job as a professional coordinator is beyond me.

Haha, yes. Pro Football Focus actually liked Tyrod a lot last year, and the offense got thrown under the bus in Buffalo while Rex was trying to cover for himself. Seems more likely you guys go chasing Cousins at this point.

You're to blame for the Niners shitty defense?!?

A lot of it was his fault. He would regularly try to get too cute and use pass rush specialists in coverage and vice versa when he was in Cleveland. Quite a few players were very publicly complaining about how bad the scheme was near the end of his single season running the D in Cleveland. When he took over the defense they went from middle of the pack the year before to nearly dead last in the league with arguably more talent. Shelton looked like a huge (pun not intended) bust under O'Neil, but played very well this year under a new coaching staff this year. I'll never figure out what Chip Kelly was thinking with that hire...

I dont know who this other "Jim ONeill" is but it sounds like he is putting a stink on our name. I associate myself with the likes of Tom Brady and winning and greatness and perfect bone structure. Hopefully I can show him the light

Nobody else wanted to work for this organization, I think. Our current GM (John Lynch) wanted to put his name in the hat in secret, just to see if the organization was truly behind the "leaks" that have been happening the past few years.
