D'Antoni was fun to watch, but can you imagine SSOL (Seven Seconds or Less) with players 30 y/o and over? Gary Vitti would be working overtime.
Barbosa's a fine pickup, especially if he can fill-in for both guard positions. My only concerns are there are too many shooting guards on the Celtics and he's as streaky as a 5 y/o's underpants.
What do you guys think of Chase Budinger? Minny's leading scorer in preseason, gets 3s in bunches. I'm looking at him or Tuff Juice (Caron Butler).

I might need to juice my 3 point % as well too.

^ How many people in your league? That team looks pretty stacked once everyone's healthy.
Here's my team:
I joined a Dynasty league and had to draft from a pool of players from the two bottom teams (the managers quit this season, so me and a new manager held a side draft). Because the team I took over had the worst record last season, I got first pick for the rookie draft and got the Unibrow.
Here's the other new guy. He had first pick and took CP, I got Dwade + Kobe, he took All Jeff and Marc Gasol... I still think I out-drafted him).

Don't laugh....my excuse is that my league is 12 members deep. I was scraping the bottom of the barrel at the end. I would even say rounds 1 and 2 weren't pretty either though.
I'm definitely reaching or looking at upside on some of these guys.

But your team actually looks ok, you have solid production guys like Timmy, Manu, Pierce, Anderson, Mcgee. And I personally think Mo Williams will tear it up in Utah. Chase Budinger?

haha...that was my reach. But if you look at his stats, he shoots decent percentages (FG and FT) and hoists 3s. That's 3 categories right there. he isn't especially injury prone, doesn't turn the ball over much, and his other stats are actually okay for his minutes .
Add in that Kevin Love is injured, Kirilenko is injury prone and moves over to Love's spot, Chase may have a good first couple of weeks.
He was their leading score in preseason, and had pretty good efficiency.
But yes, that was a purely statistical decision and a definite reach.

Damn... Watched the Rockets game and James Harden was playing Jordan level ball tonight. 37 pts, 12 assists and 4 steals (+18 per).
Lin played decent 12 pts, 8 assists, 4 steals and +23 per. When he was off the floor though, you can tell that the Rockets play making ability took a dive off a cliff.

Tough yes. But luckily, the Lakers themselves never thought they'd hit the season and rattle off an 82 game win streak.
Contrary to popular believe or expectation, this isn't the Heat or Celtics Big 3's coming together. Its not the Lakers Big 4 team of 2004 (who, for as horrible as they are perceived, got to the Finals of all things). The team's development is seen as a longer-term thing. This literally is a Big 4, thrown together after a lockout season. Like I said about the Heat's Big 3 way back when they started out, they weren't going to come together immediately. They didn't.
You don't buy a puzzle and expect it to be put together right out the box.
Last night, they lost on turnovers and defensive reads. That's all trying to figure out things together in real-time. But Dwight got his, Kobe's got his, and the rest will come together. The talent and star power is there for sure.
Its not like the Rose Garden is a good place for the Lakers to play anyways....I already knew they were gonna lose.

IMO - get rid of Mike Brown and that princeton junk.

I think its harder having to listen to Laker fans that don't see the light at the end of the tunnel than sports radio/TV. I have to talk my friends off the ledge after every loss and this goes back decades.
We get Dwight and Nash, and they want to kill them with expectations already. For the love of god, we got Steve Nash and Dwight Howard. We're already ahead of the game.
Unlike the typical Laker fan though, the organization doesn't panic. Nash and Howard dropped in their laps....they waited Orlando out and they let Nash sell the idea of trading him to the Lakers. The wins will come....but its still more important to gel.

The Lakers will gel at some point no doubt but the bigger problem is this offense that doesn't play to the strengths of Nash it pretty much takes him out of the equation which doesn't make sense. Some will say that they had a good offensive game last night but not nearly what it could have been if Nash abilities were maximized. We lost a game that wasn't even close the last 10 minutes of the game.
I know that the Buss family hated the triangle offense but if you get Steve Nash you have to install an offense to let him do his thing and this offense isn't.
We didn't get Steve Nash for his defense and we didn't get him to use him as a decoy so let him do his thing and the Lakers will turn it around real quick.
Its not just that the Lakers are 0-2 but they are a team full of stars and superstars and they lost to 2 teams with none. Not to mention that they were 0-8 in the preseason and most of those games were out and out blowouts.

I'll say this....I'm glad I was having a couple of beers while watching the game and handing out candy.
Much easier to watch. Switching between them and the Clips was fun too. That rivalry hasn't lost its chippy-ness.

The offense should flow through Nash having the ball 75% of the time. Nash needs to be the floor general and use his knowledge/experience to run the team, and NOT try to "fit in" to Mike Brown's coaching strategies.

Are the Lakers still running the Triangle?

Interesting tweets....
Beto Duran:
and...
Hmmm...that was with Marcin Gortat, Channing Frye, and the oldest player in the league, the 40 y/o Grant Hill.
I do understand though, what they are trying to balance. If they are just P&R, they'll be one-dimensional come playoffs. However, the playoffs are 80 games away at this point.
Beto Duran:
In 2 games Lakers have run the pick-and-roll on 6% of their offensive plays. Last in NBA
Last year when Steve Nash ran pick & roll & passed to roll man, teammates led NBA in points per play & fg%

^^Preaching to the choir, bro. They need to figure out their identity with the given personnel on the floor.
I hope they'd mess with the rotations a little bit. They need to stagger the talent on the first team. Phil Jackson did that all the time....while Bynum and Pau would start, LO and Pau would get the lion's share of minutes together, and were the best big man core in the NBA for 3 years. I always thought Phil started Bynum because starting was important to Bynum's psyche.
I'd like to see Nash/Meeks/Bryant/Hill/Howard out there for a couple of minutes. They'd have 2 3 point outlets, 1 slasher, a rebounder, and the dominant big man to throw the ball into. They don't have to start, but I try them at the 7 minute mark.
