Don't think they do...? I think Bostonians just hate any Yankees player in general.

Good question. We would have ended up loving him if he came from Texas and signed with the Sox, but now that he is a Yankee its a different story. Part of the reason that so many Sox fans don't like him though, is because he seems so arrogant. I don't know if he is or just comes off that way. Then again, reasonable Sox fans dont hate all Yankees. I love the way Jeter plays and conducts himself off the field and same with Canoe, Rivera and some other guys on the team.

There is no doubt in my mind that A rod will break Aaron's record in his early 40s.

Hope so...I'd rather have a whiny girlie-man be the all-time HR record-holder than some @$$hole cheater.

It all boils down to when he was competing with the beloved Nomar for best shortstop in the game. The hatred just kept going from there.

arrogant? I never thought that he was arrogant. I remember when he got that big contract with Texas, one of his team mate came on the talk show and telling everyone about how humble he was, down to earth type of guy, doesn't drive fancy car to show off, etc. I guess he changed since he moved to Yankees? I do hope that he breaks that record...

Currently, ARod is on pace for 116 HR and 300 RBIs.

Unreal. Those were Pujols numbers for last year before he got injured.

I read an interview with him in some in-flight magazine once. They asked him where his favorite places to eat at, favorite clubs, favorite hotels etc. All his answers were pretty much only the most expensive places you could think off.

On the way back, I read the same thing with Tom Brady. And all his answers were places that the everyday person could afford to go, much more down to earth.

that makes him an arrogant person? Its good to hear that Tom Brady is a down to earth type of person but I still don't think because of those fancy rest, clubs, and hotels make him an arrogant person. maybe I was expecting to hear something worst story than that... I hope you understand where I'm coming from. For the record, I'm not a A-rod lover anything like that so don't want to start e-fight.
thanks for sharing that info though..

If A-Rod hits the 100 RBI mark by the All-Star break (only a couple players have ever done it but if I recall correctly Juan Gone-zales achieved in back in his Texas days) ... then we'll start talking about A-Rod breaking anything except his perfectly manicured nails.

from bill simmons:

Moo (SF): Do the Yankees fans like A-Rod yet, or will they always hate him no matter what he does? I think he has the worst home run celebration I have ever seen (next to Mike Schmidt's 500th HR dance). p.s. how much weight has A-Rod put on since last year, and has anyone questioned this yet? He looks big.

Bill Simmons: It's a love-hate thing -- A-Rod is like the guy in college who had a fake ID and could buy beer, but everyone hated him, only they knew they needed him to get thru the year. So they put him with him because it's a means to an end, but they'd never hang out with him if he didn't have the fake ID.

All right, that didn't make sense.

Another 2 HR's for A Rod last night. He has 14 now before May, tying the record set last year by Pujols.

He could have 20 HR and 50 RBI by May 1.

Well, no...it doesn't make A-Wad an arrogant/cocky person just by judging where he eats/shops/hangs out and etc.

BUT, it does give a glimpse of how high-maintenance he is...
