Mike Maroth anyone...?

Although, in my fantasy team, I'm starting to get with Carpenter's elbow problems. And there's no IR spot and now, I'm stuck carrying one roster spot for a guy I can't drop if he's out for the year.

Wait...let me check again. by not knowing how to use the board. I've fawked up twice then...I sat Escobar when he started over the weekend. That probably cost me a slough of points.

Yea, you can move Carpenter the DL and pick up another player and it won't effect your roster size.

You can points from Pitchers if they are SP, RP, or P. Just not on the bench.

Thanks. The annoying thing about baseball leagues is that you never know when a SP is slated to pitch for the day. So, back to my Escobar example from over the weekend, I didn't realize he was on the mound and had him on the bench.

Your best bet is to click on their name to see when they are scheduled to pitch again, http://sports.yahoo.com/mlb/players/7547, at it says: Next Game: 4/10 vs. CLE (Scheduled Next Start: 4/10 vs. CLE) in their profile.

-or-

Check ESPN.com early in the morning for the days schedule and pitching probables.

a-rod is on fiya.

and jeter has what, 6 errors already? and no yankees fans are criticizing him for that. instead, they blame the cold.

A-Rod has received a ton of scrutinity since his arrival in NYC (some warranted, some bogus, some outright idiotic) but one dude doesn't a WS title win. Besides, for the most part, the most important variable in postseason success is pitching, not the feats of an individual player.

Hypothetically-speaking, what if he has an amazing postseason (hits .500, bunch of clutch hits and home runs, etc.) but the Yanks lose in seven hard-fought games? Is he still a bum for not winning the ring? And what if he Yanks just breeze through the postseason with unbelieveable pitching but A-Rod flails miserably (tons of 0-fers, K's or GIDP's in key situations, commits errors, etc.). Is he a hero and true Yank just for winning the ring?

that's what i'm saying. after all that went on during the off-season, if he had a slow start, he'd be getting roasted by the media and fans. even if it's only april.

but now that he's 'proving them otherwise', everyone cries 'oh, it's april, do it when it counts '

can't please the critics

Nope. Cuz, he's a -er. He's not a macho athlete. He's too much of a girlie-man. He earns $25M a year. He chokes in the playoffs.

Well, he just hit his 10th HR of the year, before May 1.

Oh, it was a walk off 3-Run jobbie too.

Meh. I'm just saying...I think it had alot to do with his BA and RBIs during the playoffs the last time round.

And him whining about not getting the same amound of adoration as Jeter...? Stupid.

Personally, I don't care how he does since he's not a member of the ChiSox or Cubs...

A couple playoff series doesn't a reputation make ... too small a sample size. Similarly, a great April doesn't a great season make. Like all ball-players, a season is filled with peaks and valleys so right now A-Rod is playing with confidence/clear mind and definitely at the top of his game. Hopefully people won't leap OFF the bandwagon as soon as he comes back down to earth and start harranguing him like all of 2006 (A-Rod after all, is the sensitive sort and possesses very thin skin).

A lot of NYY fans just seem to get too caught up on the daily ebb-and-flow of the season. There's a lo-oooo-ng way to go. A-Rod is a great player and a valuable component of the TEAM. And as in all team sports, let's not give individual players TOO much credit or TOO much blame.

As long as the offense chugs along and the pitching remains adequate (until the horses return from injury), the Yanks have a good shot at making the playoffs ... and after that, the postseason is a crapshoot.

well, i think a reputation can be made by a couple of playoffs series.

like mark lemke for the braves. the guy was an average utility player his whole career but always seemed to pull through in the playoffs.

i think the expectations are just higher with a player of the caliber of a-rod because he's probably the best player today.

but you are right that every player goes through patches of slumps throughout the entire season. with a-rod, we all know what he can do over the course of 162 games. it's just that he's faltered when the team, as a whole, has failed too during the playoffs. but unfortunately, he doesn't get a pass because he's never won a world series.

i agree that it was retarded of him asking for the same type of adoration that jeter gets...but just annoying to see that people aren't pleased either way....

that's what i'm saying. i haven't experienced the kind of cold weather chicago has.

and s14, it's a bit of both. there are far more opportunities for finance-related jobs in chicago. but i'll most likely wait til i take the first level of the cfa. the gf really liked the city too and wouldn't oppose moving. of course, that would entail wedding discussions to be brought up. eh...not really ready for that right now.
