Family moved up here and I just tagged along. And now, I'm pretty much settled down here with my own house and GF who I'll likely hitch in a year or two.

If anyone needs to shut up it's the Yankee fans. They are the most unstable people on the planet, they think they DESERVE to win every year. Arod has averaged 40 HR's and 119 RBI's for the Yanks the last 3 seasons. ARE YOU KIDDING ME? He is a scapegoat for them because of all the money he makes.
I have heard Yankee fans boo Jeter because he was in a little slump, the fucking guy has been a hero to the team for years and the fans boo him after a few bad games.
Most Yankee fans are a pain in the ass and just can't handle the fact that their precious Yankees are losing for the past 7 years. They need to blame someone...enter A-Rod

but the 2 years before that his OBP was well over .400, which basically means he was getting on base as much as you could expect. He was actually on base more than Jeter during both those postseasons. What is there to complain about now?

What Would Don Draper Do?
i dunno...here's my take with a-rod and yankees fans.
1. lots of yankees fans do indeed believe they have a birthright to win the world series each and every year. anything less than that, they pout and whine like the fickle, spoiled children that they are. they need a scapegoat, and why a-rod?
2. a-rod is 1) the richest baseball player, 2) but is not jeter, 3) keeps making stupid comments to the media, 4) openly criticized jeter, mr. yankee, 5) chokes in the playoffs, 6) is still probably the best and most talented baseball player on the planet, but is not jeter, and 7) they know a-rod's uber-sensitive and can't take criticism. so it's easy to pick on him.

When was the last time A-Rod did something "clutch"? In the Playoffs or Regular Season?
Things you will randomly remember as a Yankee Fan this past decade:
Leritz's homer off that braves closer to turn around that series (he still gets
cheered when he's in town)
Jeters homer off the Orioles (kid reaching over to catch teh ball) -that put them ahead i think?
Bernie in one of those Baltimore series matchign homers with Juan Gone?
Tino's homer to tie against Arizona
Soriano's homer that tied against Arizona also
Posada's bloop double off Pedro in that Boston game (even though posada never hits in the post season)
Pettite's 2 hit shutout in atlanta
Boone's homer
Coney - any playoff game
Clemens against the Mets
Brosius's homer (i think)
Arod, i remember in 2004, he had the huge monster 3 games, then collapsed just like everyone else and also, the varitek facial, and a 3 homer game. Nothing really to put him out there to give him 'his' moment to be accepted

i really wouldn't call jeter a "great" player. his stats are good, indeed. but is he even a top 5 shortstop? if a-rod was still playing ss, ehh, maybe jeter's a top 5. marginally.
but what makes jeter so good is that he has those intangibles that makes him a leader. obviously the players in the clubhouse look up to him. but skill-wise, he's not "great." i'll forever remember jeter for the '96 world series when my braves just couldn't get him out and that flip to get giambi out at home.
my
there was an interesting stat that i saw. in postseason play, jeter and a-rod's stats are very similar. it's just the number of games and at-bats that are off. keith olbermann was talking about this on dan patrick show. he was saying how stats wise, they're really similar. but it's that jeter's played in so many games and has had more chances and opportunities to make a big play or get the big hit. it was an interesting point of view.
