Geez Walt, more former Cards???

I guess he's looking for even more playoff/WS experience, because I don't think he'll outplay Janish on offense and definitely not on defense.

I guess he had the same idea when he signed Edmonds last year.

And this is like the third story today I've seen on here and on espn.com before there's any mention of it on si.com

Yea, too bad you can't read anything but headlines on ESPN unless you are an Insider. Not to mention the SI articles/writers are so much better.

Not a bad addition to the rotation...Now, let's hope Big Z remains sane and does not go again.

Good player, just not worth near $21.5 per. Can't believe the Jays were able to unload that contract.

Love how the Blue Jays turned around and shipped Napoli to the Rangers. Wonder what the Angels think about that

I read that neither team would discuss if any cash was involved or how much each team will pay, etc.

It's amazing how much money the Angels have tied up in him, Hunter, and Matthews Jr. who isn't even on the team anymore.

Oh and the Reds signed Johnny Cueto to 4 years @ 27 million to go along with the recent Votto and Bruce long-term deals.

All homegrown talent, and the only way a small market team can stay competitive

I hated the Falcons when I started getting into sports. The Steelers hadn't won a SB in 13 years.

Nah...keep in mind I'm only after Flipflavre because well, he plays for the Dikings and Packers...

Otherwise, I could care less.

And I don't hate your Heat as much as I may be showing online...

Rumor is the Jays sent 5 million with Vernon.

He's a class act. I really hope he has a great year in LA.

So, the deadline between Pujols and the Cards passes...I wonder if a deal will get done or do we have a big-time player becoming UFA come November?

I think he ends up staying in STL, but I can't wait to see the bidding war for him if/when he becomes a free agent.

I think Boston will make a strong run at him. Ortiz's $12.5M contract comes off the books after this season. So does the $14M being paid J.D. Drew, the $12M being paid to Papelbon, the $7.25M being paid to Cameron, the $5M being paid to Scutaro and the $2M being paid to Varitek. He'd just have to juggle 1B/DH time with Gonzo. If Pujols really wants to play for a contender, they'd be a good option.

Gary Sheffield retires- HOF?

I think he has good offensive stats, but the Mitchell Report & PED admissions will make it hard for him to get in.

Adam Wainwright likely out for the season with elbow injury.

http://www.stltoday.com/sports/baseb...27992bc8b.html

Wainwright finished second in the Cy Young voting and he won 20 games last season for the Cardinals. He and Cy Young Award-winner Roy Halladay were the only pitchers in the National League to finish in the top 10 in the major pitching categories.
Devastating loss. Glad I'm not a Cardinals fan.

Hmm, didn't realize he was 29. Thought he was younger.

And I still laugh when I see the money they gave to Kyle Lohse

Wow, he's still owed $23.75 million over the next two years!

Apparently all it takes to cash in is one mediocre season and a team desperate for starting pitching.

I guess it's also no surprise that he's a Boras client.

When I first heard it announced, my reaction was a step or two below the Werth contract on the meter

I watched him pitch a lot when he was Red...one start he'd be completely untouchable, the next you'd think he was throwing batting practice. Seemed like every 3rd or 4th start was brilliance, and then the rest.

I guess they were betting on potential and having Duncan sort him out

I just saw on the news where they pay you to go to all the MLB games, all you have to do is to write your opinion on everything you see at the game. They dont tell us how much they pay you though.

I read about that too...MLB Dream Job.
The winner is required to move to NYC and watch Every. Single. Game. and blog about them.

I wonder if my boss, wife and two kids would mind?
