Bring him on...I love this move.
I will personally inject the steriods into him if it means he hits 35 home runs for us.
Imagine the fear of some young reliever knowing Sheffield is waiting on the bench to pinch hit in the pitcher spot. The waiving bat will be great.

Baseball season! Looking forward to many trips to watch the Oakland A's. The offense seems to be set so if the pitchers overachieve and Duchscherer (and the rest of the team for that matter) stays healthy, it could be very interesting in the AL West.

I don't have a problem with that. The Mets needed outfield help last season. Sheffield isn't my first choice, but as long as he is not an everyday player, then I don't see a downside. He is still a dangerous bat.

But in the lowly NL his bat can still be relatively dangerous.

I also think in the NL there is a lot more chances for a pinch hitter. The other thing is if they can convince him to learn to play first, it may also be a help.

Fixed. As usual, many question marks for us going into a season. But we'll have some speed in the lineup with Bonfacio, Maybin, and Hanley. Starting pitching looks good and bullpen is meh. Defense looks assy per some scouts and that was one of the reason we got rid of Mark Jacobs (32HR) and Josh Willingham.
